Job summary

Slate is seeking a dynamic Manufacturing Quality Engineer to join our team. The role focuses on new products, process development, and ensuring safe, successful launches. You will collaborate with internal and external partners to meet customer expectations and uphold high quality standards.

The ideal candidate has 6+ years in manufacturing quality, strong QMS experience, and a proven ability to drive improvements across suppliers and production lines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, quality management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6+ years of experience in engineering or quality assurance within manufacturing.
• Proficiency in quality management systems (QMS) and tools such as Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and SPC.
• Ability to conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Familiarity with FMEA and risk assessment tools.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with data-driven decision making.
• Excellent communication skills and cross-functional collaboration.
• Experience in supplier quality management and incoming materials quality expectations.
• High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Approve PPAP submissions from suppliers to ensure quality per plans and requirements.
• Follow up on supplier corrective actions to ensure timely resolution.
• Support problem-solving activities related to supplier quality and provide guidance.
• Provide production line support for supplier quality issues with clear communication.
• Conduct supplier capability assessments and manage certifications.
• Coordinate incoming inspection processes to ensure supplier quality compliance.
• Provide part inspection support for new products, launches and builds.
• Develop and maintain supplier performance strategies and scorecards.
• Collaborate with supplier quality to implement improvement strategies.
• Perform internal audits and monitor KPIs like scrap rates and supplier performance.
• Manage obsolete materials and avoid mixing with active materials during launches.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to integrate quality requirements into manufacturing.
• Maintain quality documentation, control plans, inspection procedures, and manuals.
• Use risk assessment tools to minimize risks and verify robust detection and prevention systems.
• Assist in FMEA development and maintenance.
• Provide quality support to technical and manufacturing teams.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
