About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and proactive HR Manager to lead the HR function for Zahir Kebab and support the wider Zahir & Zahid Group across its European operations.
The HR Manager will be responsible for leading and coordinating the full range of HR activities across Poland, Portugal and potentially other European markets. The role will cover HR operations, employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, performance management, training and development, HR policies and processes, and support for organizational growth. The successful candidate will work closely with senior management, Operations and Country/market leaders to establish consistent HR standards across the business.
Fluent English communication skills are essential, as the role involves regular communication with colleagues, managers and employees across different European markets and may require travel between countries.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading the HR function for Zahir Kebab across Poland and supporting HR activities across Portugal and other European markets as the business expands.
- Developing and implementing consistent HR policies, procedures and practices across the company's European operations.
- Managing the full employee lifecycle, including workforce planning, recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, development and offboarding.
- Working closely with Operations and Country Managers to identify workforce requirements and address HR-related operational issues.
- Supporting recruitment for Head Office and restaurant operations, including local and international employees.
- Establishing effective onboarding, induction and employee engagement processes for restaurant and Head Office employees.
- Developing and implementing performance management, employee development and succession practices.
- Leading or coordinating employee training and development initiatives in partnership with the Head of Training and Operations.
- Ensuring HR policies, employment practices and documentation are appropriately implemented and maintained in accordance with applicable local requirements.
- Supporting managers in employee relations matters, including performance, conduct, attendance and workplace issues.
- Developing HR reporting and dashboards to monitor workforce, turnover, absenteeism, recruitment and other key HR metrics.
- Supporting international employees and coordinating HR processes across different countries and cultural environments.
- Maintaining accurate employee records and HR documentation and ensuring appropriate confidentiality of employee information.
- Advising senior management on HR matters and recommending initiatives to improve employee engagement, retention and organizational effectiveness.
- Supporting the development of the HR function, systems, processes and organizational structure as Zahir Kebab expands across Europe.
Requirements
Most Important Requirement
Fluent English – minimum C1 level preferred. The candidate must be able to communicate confidently and professionally in English with employees, managers and senior leadership across European markets.
The candidate must be comfortable:
- Conducting meetings, interviews and HR discussions in English,
- communicating professionally by phone, email and other business communication channels,
- working effectively with employees and managers from different countries and cultural backgrounds,
- explaining HR policies, procedures and employment matters clearly,
- travelling to and supporting operations in different European markets.
Additional Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of professional HR experience, preferably with experience in a multi-site, international, hospitality, restaurant, retail or other operational environment.
- Previous experience leading or independently managing a broad HR function is highly preferred.
- Experience supporting employees and operations across multiple locations or countries will be an advantage.
- Bachelor's degree is required; a degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Organizational Psychology or a related discipline is preferred.
- Strong knowledge and practical experience across core HR functions, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, onboarding and HR policies/processes.
- Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to work independently, take ownership and operate effectively in a fast-growing organization.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use HR data and KPIs to support decisions.
- Ability to develop and implement HR policies, processes and standards from the ground up.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office or Google Workspace; experience with HRIS or other HR technology would be an advantage.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities across different markets and work closely with senior management and operational leaders.
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly across Poland, Portugal and other European markets as required.
