Job summary

EPAM Systems in Poland is seeking a Junior Software Engineer to join our engineering team. The role offers a hybrid work model with 3 days per week from EPAM offices in Kraków, Wrocław, or Gdańsk.

You will work closely with experienced engineers on Java-based projects, learning and growing in a supportive environment. You will develop and maintain software components, write tests, and participate in Agile ceremonies, gaining exposure to modern cloud, CI/CD, and tooling.

Qualifications

• 1 year of production software development experience required.
• Strong Java fundamentals including modern language features.
• Proficiency in SQL and relational databases.
• Practical experience with JUnit and unit testing concepts.
• Knowledge of REST APIs, HTTP methods and status codes.
• Hands-on experience with Git in collaborative workflows.
• Spring Boot experience for building Java apps.
• Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform basics.
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and automation.
• English proficiency at B2+ for written and spoken communication.
• Nice-to-have: exposure to Claude, Codex, Gemini.
• Basic Python scripting knowledge.
• Familiarity with Angular concepts.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain software components under guidance using Java.
• Write clean, readable code following team standards.
• Implement and consume RESTful APIs as part of tasks.
• Write unit tests to ensure code quality.
• Participate in code reviews to uphold quality.
• Collaborate with developers, QA, and business analysts in Agile sprints.
• Use Git for version control and collaborative work.
• Investigate and resolve bugs found during testing or production.
• Participate in stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
• Continuously learn new technologies to grow with the team.
