Job summary

Across Clocks is seeking a Junior Architectural CAD Drafter to support a U.S.-based architecture and engineering firm. The role focuses on converting field measurements and sketches into accurate architectural drawings, including floor plans and elevations.

You will work remotely on residential and insurance-related projects with training offered on company standards. Strong AutoCAD or similar CAD experience is encouraged, and Chief Architect knowledge is a plus.

Qualifications

Job description

Across Clocks is hiring a Junior Architectural CAD Drafter to support a U.S.-based architecture and engineering firm working primarily on residential and insurance-related projects.

This is a hands-on production drafting role focused on converting field measurements, hand-drawn sketches, dimensions, photos, and existing-condition information into accurate architectural drawings.

You will primarily work on floor plans, elevations, roof plans, site plans, and drawing revisions. The ideal candidate already has solid architectural drafting fundamentals and can produce accurate drawings without needing basic drafting concepts explained from scratch.

Experience with Chief Architect is preferred. Candidates with strong AutoCAD or similar CAD experience are encouraged to apply, as training can be provided on company-specific software, templates, and standards.

This is a part-time remote position with the potential to transition to full-time based on performance and workload.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

• Strong hands-on proficiency in AutoCAD or similar architectural CAD software.
• Ability to produce accurate floor plans and exterior elevations from field measurements, sketches, dimensions, and reference photos.
• Experience preparing architectural drawings for residential or similar building projects.
• Ability to understand and document existing building conditions.
• Experience working with dimensions, annotations, layers, linework, and standard architectural drawing conventions.
• Ability to revise drawings based on markups, comments, and updated project information.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify missing or unclear information before proceeding.
• Ability to work independently on clearly defined drafting assignments without constant supervision.
• Strong written and spoken English communication skills.

Preferred

• Experience producing roof plans and site plans.
• Experience with residential remodels, additions, ADUs, or existing-condition/as-built documentation.
• Experience preparing drawings for U.S.-based projects.
• Experience with permit drawing sets.
• Familiarity with U.S. residential construction and architectural drawing conventions.
• Experience with Chief Architect.
• Revit experience is beneficial but not required.
