Citi Handlowy in Warsaw is seeking a seasoned In-Business Risk & Control Officer for maternity cover. The role leads the Risk & Controls function in the 1st Line of Defense, ensuring high-quality risk management and compliance across the bank.

You will operationalize MCA guidelines and oversee governance bodies, while managing incident escalations and BRCC reporting. The ideal candidate has 10+ years in risk, controls or audit within financial services, with strong English and Polish

Qualifications

• Bachelor's/University degree required; Master's preferred
• 10+ years in Risk & Controls, Compliance, Operational Risk or Audit in financial services
• Proven track record in enhancing internal controls, governance and process improvements
• Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills across multi-disciplinary teams
• Excellent presentation and communication skills (verbal and written) to engage senior management
• Analytical, problem-solving, and highly organized with attention to detail
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives under pressure in a fast-paced setting
• Fluent in English and Polish (spoken and written)

Responsibilities

• Act as Citi Handlowy Risk and Controls Head for 1st Line of Defense and maintain high-quality risk environment.
• Strengthen risk management across identification, assessment, mitigation, monitoring and reporting.
• Oversee country risk profile and ensure robust control execution and regulatory adherence.
• Operationalize MCA guidelines and establish effective control designs and KRIs.
• Serve as Application Owner for MCA platforms and manage incident escalations.
• Govern BRCC with charter ownership, agenda management and quarterly reporting.
• Lead bank-wide Issue Management and monthly BRCC reporting.
• Own Citi Handlowy Escalation Policy and act as primary contact for escalations.
• Lead and support Operational Risk Coordinators across units with guidance and training.
