Job summary

Join Delaware Schools Consortium seeks an Academic Tutor for Middle School to provide individual or small group instruction in a specified content area to improve student achievement for under-performing students. The role is limited to 29 hours per week and extends through 6/15/2026.

Essential duties include planning lessons, meeting students at scheduled times, documenting progress, and reporting tutoring hours to supervisors.

Qualifications

• Educator credentials in the specific content area are preferred and required for lesson planning and tutoring supervision.
• Undergraduate degree or specialized training or certification in related area.
• Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in instructional delivery in the content area.
• Three or more years of related work experience.
• Ability to build professional relationships and interact with others.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgment.

Responsibilities

• Plan small group instruction for RTI Tier 1, 2 and 3 students.
• Meet with student(s) at a regularly scheduled time and place for a specific number of hours.
• Help the student(s) to identify specific learning goals.
• Maintain a current written log of lesson content and observations of progress.
• Assist the student in developing a portfolio of his or her work in specified content area.
• Attend reviews with supervisory staff and the student.
• Evaluate student progress and achievements. Acknowledge and document his or her efforts and successes through the ongoing development.
• Report tutoring hours to designated staff member.
• Promptly report concerns or unusual interruptions to the supervisor/administrator.
• Treat students with respect and maintain a team approach to learning.
• Complete special or cyclical projects and additional tasks that reflect the nature of the actual work assignment.
