Job summary

Remitly is seeking a Director of Engineering, Builder Infrastructure, to lead three teams across Kraków and the US. You will shape the multi-year platform strategy, own the infrastructure as a product, and drive security, reliability, and cost controls in a globally scaled remittance tech environment.

You will mentor managers and engineers, define interfaces for independent shipping, and guide AI-operated infrastructure while balancing risk with business growth.

Qualifications

• A practical point of view on how AI agents transform infra operations.
• Experience leading multiple infra/platform teams via engineering managers.
• Track record delivering multi-year infra strategies that shifted orgs.
• Experience designing engineering orgs: boundaries, headcount, and mgmt quality.
• Infrastructure scaled with automation, self-service, and APIs.

Responsibilities

• Define a multi-year strategy for Builder Infrastructure across regions and services.
• Design team boundaries and ownership across Krakow and the US with clear interfaces.
• Mentor engineering managers and senior engineers; build succession plans.
• Operate infrastructure as a product with measured adoption, lead time, and toil.
• Lead AI-operated infra where agents provision, patch, upgrade, and remediate under policy.
• Oversee security implementation end-to-end, with least-privilege identity and hardened images.
• Make trade-off calls on reliability, security, cost, and delivery speed.
• Manage infrastructure spend as a unit cost; align investments with growth.
• Collaborate with Security, SRE, Builder Experience, and product leaders on cross-domain issues.
• Establish visibility into team health and quality without micromanagement.
