Job summary

STN Inc. is seeking a Hardware Engineer to own the hardware lifecycle for GPUs and supporting infrastructure, across sites with travel up to 25%. You will manage health monitoring, firmware, RMA workflows, and capacity planning, while coordinating with procurement on spare parts.

The role requires deep GPU/ x86 hardware knowledge, strong Linux skills, and experience with hyperscale systems, with a hybrid work setup in Pleasanton, CA or assigned site.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in hardware/systems/data center engineering.
• Deep knowledge of x86 server architecture and GPU systems.
• Hands-on with NVIDIA HGX, DGX, or hyperscale-class systems.
• Strong Linux fundamentals and scripting (Python, Bash).
• Bachelor's degree in CS, EE, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Monitor GPU and server health including thermal and error rates.
• Drive end-to-end RMA process with vendors.
• Manage firmware, BIOS, and BMC upgrades across the fleet.
• Develop burn-in and test procedures (NCCL, stress tests).
• Investigate hardware failures and provide root-cause analyses.
• Maintain hardware inventory and CMDB accuracy.
• Drive capacity planning across compute, storage, and networking.
• Coordinate with Procurement on spare parts strategy.
• Author hardware runbooks and operational procedures.
• Support new platform bring-up and architecture validation.
