Job summary

EPAM Systems in Poland is seeking a hands-on Google Cloud Technical Lead who blends architectural thinking with active engineering practice. You will guide cloud platform design, set standards, and lead Terraform-driven automation across GCP services.

The role operates in the Cloud Center of Excellence, part of an Agile Release Train, mentoring engineers, validating designs, and ensuring security, quality, and cost optimization by design.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in cloud engineering with a strong Google Cloud Platform focus.
• Expertise in Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.
• Experience with enterprise cost optimization and FinOps practices.
• Proficient in Python and Bash scripting.
• Experience leading teams and working with Agile/SAFe.
• Proven track record in roadmapping and architecture design.
• Experience in large international organizations.

Responsibilities

• Definition of technology standards and the future state of Google Cloud Platform services.
• Collaborate with PO, Scrum Master, and architects to develop and operate GCP platform services.
• Lead IAM design across Google Cloud Platform, including service accounts and policies.
• Drive infrastructure automation with Terraform and reusable modules.
• Support teams with hands-on IaC and automation best practices.
• Embed billing visibility and cost optimization with FinOps stakeholders.
• Ensure security, compliance and quality through reviews and validations.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to cloud best practices and docs.
• Build proofs of concept and proofs of value for new GCP capabilities.
• Maintain high-quality cloud design documentation.

We are seeking a hands-on Google Cloud Technical Lead/Lead Engineer who combines strong architectural thinking with active engineering practice. In this role, you are responsible for the development of the Google Cloud Platform to optimally serve customer demand through solution design, team assistance, co-creation, or setting up PoC/MVP implementations. This role is part of the Cloud Center of Excellence (CCoE), an Agile Release Train (ART), where you will act as a technical leader guiding teams on best practices, validating designs, and ensuring that security, quality, and cost optimization are embedded by design into all Google Cloud solutions. The team's vision is to provide a flexible and reliable automated cloud platform to enable accelerated and sustainable adoption of cloud across the client, maximizing benefits while reducing risks and bringing innovative cloud solutions to teams.

Responsibilities

• Definition of technology standards and future state of the Google Cloud Platform Services (creating reference architectures, guiding principles, solution building blocks, etc.)
• Close collaboration with the Product Owner, Scrum Master, System Architects and other team members to develop and operate the Google Cloud platform services
• Leadership of the design and implementation of Identity and Access Management across Google Cloud Platform, including service accounts, organizational policies and modern authentication patterns
• Drive infrastructure automation and standardized provisioning using Infrastructure as Code, with a strong focus on Terraform and reusable modules
• Support for team members in developing and maintaining new platform services, including hands-on infrastructure-as-code and other automation best practices
• Collaboration with FinOps stakeholders to embed billing visibility, cost control and optimization practices into platform services
• Assurance that security, compliance and quality standards are consistently applied through design reviews, implementation validation and continuous improvement
• Mentorship of engineers within the Google Cloud Platform team and contribution to cloud best practices, patterns and documentation
• Build proofs of concept and proofs of value for new Google Cloud capabilities
• Maintenance of high quality cloud design documentation within the domain

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in cloud engineering roles with strong Google Cloud Platform focus
• Background in Google Cloud and extensive Expertise in Infrastructure as Code, particularly Terraform
• Understanding of cloud billing models, cost allocation and optimization strategies in enterprise environments
• Proficiency in scripting and troubleshooting using Python and Bash
• Experience setting up enterprise-level account structures and security models in GCP
• Familiarity with PaaS offerings, containerized and serverless workloads (GKE, Cloud Run)
• Experience operating cloud platforms at enterprise scale, balancing security, compliance, reliability and performance
• Knowledge of cloud-based delivery models and data integration patterns/architectures
• Engineering and coding skills applied in agile environments
• Knowledge of IT architecture methodologies (e.g., TOGAF) and service management processes (ITIL)
• Proven track record in road mapping, technical architecture design, solution definition and project management
• Work experience from large, international companies and global service providers
• Strong leadership, documentation and customer-facing skills
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies such as SAFe and Scrum
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of explaining complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders
• English proficiency at B2 level or higher
