Job summary
Bosch is seeking an experienced System Engineer to manage the enterprise compute and virtualization platform across EMEA, APAC and the Americas. You will work with Linux servers, VMware vSphere/vSAN, and enterprise storage to ensure stability, performance, and security of mission-critical environments.
You will design, implement, automate, and operate integrated hardware, virtualization, and OS solutions while collaborating with global teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong hands-on experience administering large-scale VMware vSphere and vCenter environments.
- Solid knowledge of software-defined storage (VMware vSAN) and storage concepts (SAN, NAS, Fibre Channel, iSCSI).
- Experience with Linux distributions (RHEL, Ubuntu/Debian).
- Automation experience with Ansible, scripting (Bash, Python).
- Proven analytical thinking and troubleshooting in a distributed global team.
- Fluent English (written and spoken).
Responsibilities
- Operate and evolve global virtualization, including vSAN clusters and vCenter in a 3rd-level team.
- Manage Linux at scale across thousands of servers (Ubuntu/Debian, RHEL).
- Develop automation and IaC with Ansible, scripts, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Oversee x86 hardware lifecycle and vendor coordination (HPE) for timely tech refreshes.
- Design and maintain software-defined storage (vSAN) and enterprise storage integrations.
- Provide root-cause analysis for complex 3rd-level issues across hardware, hypervisor, OS, and storage.
- Implement security hardening and integrate Linux with identity providers (AD, Kerberos).
- Enhance monitoring/observability with Grafana, Nagios, Icinga.
