Job summary

UN Women seeks a consultant to strengthen gender-sensitive private sector engagement across its humanitarian and early recovery work in Gaza. The role focuses on enterprise recovery, women’s employment, and safe, inclusive workplaces for women workers, with strong emphasis on applying the Women’s Empowerment Principles.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or equivalent in Gender Studies, Economics, Business Administration, Social Sciences, Development Studies, International Development, Human Rights, or a related field; or a first-level degree with two years of relevant experience.
• At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in women's economic empowerment, private sector engagement, inclusive economic development, or related fields; 2 years in Crisis/Recovery contexts.
• Experience designing and implementing gender-responsive employment, entrepreneurship, and private sector programmes.
• Proven experience engaging with private sector actors and promoting inclusive workplace practices, including familiarity with the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs).
• Fluency in English; working knowledge of Arabic is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Conduct gender-responsive assessments of target enterprises and sectors.
• Identify barriers to women’s access to employment and leadership.
• Analyze enterprise practices from a gender equality perspective.
• Develop gender-responsive private sector engagement framework.
• Provide guidance on integrating gender considerations into enterprise recovery and workforce development.
