Job summary

DFDS Poland seeks a GDPR Specialist to drive data protection across divisions, ensuring GDPR compliance, awareness, and practical interpretation of privacy laws. You will join the Master Data department and collaborate with Legal, IT Security, and Data Governance teams in B2C, B2B, and B2E domains.

You will handle data inventories, DPIAs, breach support, and create guidelines while engaging a diverse group of stakeholders. English proficiency is essential in this international environment.

Qualifications

  • 1–2 years of experience with data protection and GDPR.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Structured approach; ability to manage cases through to completion.
  • Coordinate with multiple stakeholders across the business.
  • Communicate clearly in writing and speech; explain complex topics.
  • Analytical, detail-oriented with data-focused mindset.
  • Strong documentation skills and adaptability in a cross-functional environment.
  • Curious, proactive, and able to learn across disciplines.
  • Strong self-management and collaborative mindset; fluent in English.
  • Technical flair for IT systems is a bonus, not a necessity.

Responsibilities

About the role

In the role as a GDPR Specialist, you will work across DFDS, interfacing with all divisions to ensure compliance, spread awareness and best practice regarding GDPR, privacy and data protection. You will be involved in handling the organization's interpretation and implementation of data protection legislation and, by extension, the specific assessment of the organization’s data processing activities.

We have a versatile workday with exciting professional challenges, and we work closely together, share knowledge and help each other.

You will be employed in the Master Data department reporting to the Master Data Compliance & Governance Team Leader. You will also be an integral part of a collaborative, cross-company core GDPR team reaching across Legal, IT Security and Data Governance departments. Given the complex nature of DFDS, you will get the opportunity to work within B2C, B2B, and B2E domains.

As a GDPR Specialist in DFDS, you will have the opportunity to use your skills and experience to solve complex and exciting tasks in the interplay between law, business operations and the organization.

You will work closely with skilled colleagues in your own and other business units. This includes Legal and IT Security, and colleagues with a wide range of other specializations - with whom we have a good and close collaboration.

The tasks include, among other things
  • Data inventory and assessment of the organization's processing activities
  • Screening of new processing activities and preparation of DPIAs (data protection impact assessments)
  • Facilitating core team meetings
  • Participating in cross-unit co-operation on common data protection law issues
  • Preparation of specific guidelines, procedures and instructions regarding data protection regulations across business units
  • Support the core team's handling of personal data breaches
  • General counselling and guidance on GDPR and privacy regulations
About you

We imagine that you have experience in GDPR, privacy and data protection. Project management background will be an asset. You should be service-minded and determined to track down issues and find solutions.

You are driven, pragmatic, efficient and action-orientated, and you have a natural flair for creating structure and overview. You thrive in an environment where the implementation of data protection law is closely anchored in the needs of the business and reflects the risk-based approach that is at the center of data protection law.

We would like you to
  • Bring 1–2 years of experience with data protection and GDPR
  • Be able to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Work in a structured way and follow a case through to completion
  • Thrive in a role with a wide range of contacts, where you coordinate with multiple stakeholders
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing, and explain complex topics to people without the same specialist knowledge
  • Have an analytical skill set, with a detail-oriented and data-focused approach, strong critical thinking skills and the ability to identify process gaps
  • Have solid analytical and documentation skills
  • Be flexible and adaptable, with the ability to lead through influence in a cross-functional and fast-changing work environment
  • Be curious and eager to seek out new knowledge, including across other disciplines
  • Have strong self-management skills
  • Have a collaborative mindset and a desire to work closely with colleagues and business partners
  • Be fluent in English, as DFDS is an international company
  • Have technical flair for IT systems is a bonus, but not a necessity
