Job summary

ABB is seeking a field technical inspector to perform thermographic inspections of energized electrical switchgear and distribution systems at customer sites across Poland. You will inspect, document, and report findings, ensuring high safety standards are followed during every site visit.

You will travel extensively (about 75%) across Poland, the EU, and occasionally other international locations, coordinating with project teams and customers to ensure successful inspections and timely

Qualifications

• Good command of English is required; additional European languages are an advantage.
• Technical aptitude and a basic understanding of electrical systems and equipment.
• Experience in thermography, condition monitoring, predictive maintenance, or other diagnostic techniques is a strong asset, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform thermographic inspections of energized electrical switchgear, distribution systems, and other electrical assets at customer sites.
• Conduct ultrasonic measurements and visual condition assessments to identify overheating, loose connections, insulation defects, partial discharge, and other potential failure modes.
• Work safely around energized electrical equipment and maintain strict adherence to electrical safety requirements, site procedures, and company policies.
• Open electrical panels, switchgear, and enclosures only when authorized and when safe working conditions have been verified, in accordance with applicable safety procedures and customer requirements.
• Collect, analyze, and document thermal images, inspection data, observations, and measurement results; prepare clear and professional reports with findings and recommendations.
• Independently organize and coordinate business travel arrangements, including flights, hotels, local transportation, and site access requirements, utilizing company-provided travel tools and administrative support.
• Collaborate with customers, project managers, and technical teams to ensure the successful execution of inspection activities, while commercial discussions, project scope definition, and scheduling remain managed by the company.
• Travel extensively to customer facilities across Poland, the European Union, and occasionally other international locations (approximately 75% travel).

Requirements:

• Good command of English is required; additional European languages are considered an advantage.
• Technical aptitude and a basic understanding of electrical systems and equipment.
• Practical knowledge of LV electrical equipment is an advantage.
• Experience in thermography, condition monitoring, predictive maintenance, or other diagnostic techniques is a strong asset, but not required.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel extensively as part of the role.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong safety mindset and commitment to electrical safety, including the ability to identify risks and stop work when conditions are deemed unsafe.
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, organize business travel arrangements, and perform work in industrial environments, including occasional work at height, in confined spaces, and on short notice.
