European Manufacturing Operations Manager

Kurt J. Lesker Company, a global leader in vacuum technology solutions, is expanding — and we’re looking for an exceptional leader to drive operations at our New European facility in Poland.

Role Summary:

As our European Manufacturing Operations Manager, you’ll step into a pivotal leadership role at a moment of significant growth. This is a rare opportunity to shape and influence a developing manufacturing operation that will play a central part in KJLC’s European strategy.

You’ll oversee all aspects of production, ensuring our products meet the world‑class standards we’re known for. You’ll also guide the ongoing development of our facility — refining processes, enhancing equipment, and building strong teams to support innovation and long‑term regional expansion.

This is a full‑time, on‑site role based in Katowice, Poland, with regular travel across the UK and Europe. A company car or allowance is included.

Key Job Elements:
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and operational oversight to ensure the delivery of quality products on time and within budget.
  • Oversee complete shop floor operations and production planning across multiple shifts and teams.
  • Ensure a safe, compliant, and inclusive working environment in accordance with European health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Drive root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to resolve operational challenges.
  • Coordinate and respond to Corrective Action Requests (CARs) and ensure implementation of Long-Term Corrective Actions (LTCAs).
  • Develop and monitor daily performance metrics and KPIs to drive operational excellence.
  • Lead Lean Manufacturing, 6S, and continuous improvement initiatives across the facility.
  • Prepare capital investment proposals, including ROI analysis, for equipment and infrastructure upgrades.
  • Manage departmental budgets, project timelines, and resource allocation.
  • Ensure accurate and up‑to‑date documentation of processes in line with Global Best Practice, training materials, and work instructions.
  • Promote a culture of best practices, sustainability, and innovation in manufacturing.
  • Stay informed on emerging manufacturing technologies and industry trends
  • Occasional travel within Europe and internationally as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required
  • Degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent experience).
  • Extensive experience in manufacturing leadership, including direct team management.
  • Strong background in Lean, 6S, CAPA, process mapping, and performance management.
  • Proficient in demand, resource, and material planning and scheduling.
  • Experience in facility layout and expansion planning.
  • Self‑motivated, results‑driven, and adaptable in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to travel (up to 10%).
Preferred
  • Experience in machining and welding operations.
  • Familiarity with Value Stream Mapping and job‑shop environments.
  • Understanding of manufacturing finance (P&L, overheads, cost absorption).
  • ERP system experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
