Job summary

needCode is seeking experienced firmware engineers to design and deliver production-ready C/C++ code for embedded devices used in automotive and IoT projects. You will work across client programs, from battery-powered wireless sensors to networked devices, with a focus on reliability and low power.

Responsibilities include bringing up new boards, integrating radio transceivers, implementing OTA updates, and ensuring robust testing and code quality with version control and reviews.

Qualifications

• 5+ years commercial embedded firmware development in C/C++.
• Radio work on constrained devices – you’ve integrated a transceiver from the datasheet up, not just called a vendor SDK.
• Wireless connectivity expertise: UWB(IEEE 802.15.4z/4ab, FiRa) or/and BLE.
• Board bring-up and hardware debugging (scope, logic analyser).
• Either low-power battery devices or networked embedded systems in depth, with working knowledge of the other.
• Peripheral drivers, field firmware updates, comfort with vendor specs and errata.
• Version control, code review, automated testing.
• English at working level - most of our clients are international.

• Bring up new boards from schematics and reference designs; debug at the hardware level.
• Integrate radio transceivers and NFC — driver work from the datasheet, session management, timestamping and time synchronisation.
• Bring up Wi-Fi and 2.4 GHz mesh connectivity, and handle coexistence between stacks sharing the band.
• Implement low-power operation: duty cycling, sleep/wake paths, measured power budgets.
• Build secure device identity, provisioning, and OTA updates with rollback and recovery.
• Deliver telemetry, remote diagnostics, calibration and automated test on real hardware.

We're hiring firmware engineers to work across client projects: battery-powered wireless devices on one end, networked and mains-powered devices on the other.
