Job summary

Teradata is seeking a seasoned product leader to drive the core database engine strategy, shaping multi-year roadmaps for the optimizer, execution runtime, and Global Planner. You will align on AI-enabled workloads and safe, expressive SQL, guiding engineers toward measurable performance gains.

You will collaborate with senior engineering leaders across regions to ensure scalable, Open Table format support and robust cost-performance tradeoffs in a global, hybrid architecture.

Qualifications

• 15+ years in databases, query engines, or distributed data systems.
• Expert understanding of database internals: planning, optimization, andMPP trade-offs.
• Deep SQL expertise and strong opinions on language design and compatibility.
• A hands-on performance mindset with benchmarks and root-cause analysis.
• A working understanding of LLMs and AI agents in database design.

Responsibilities

• Own the engine vision and multi-year roadmap, balancing performance, cost and complexity.
• Lead the rethink of core engine components for AI agents as a major workload.
• Drive optimizer, execution, and workload management across big data workloads.
• Own benchmark suites and KPIs, including regression gates in releases.
• Own Iceberg/Delta Lake plans for scan, prune, and write paths with AI assist.
• Design SQL features and ergonomics while preserving ANSI SQL compatibility.
