Job summary

Nordea Bank Norge ASA is seeking a Database Expert to design, document and improve trusted data foundations across modern data platforms. The role covers data architecture, integration, and data governance within Group Technology, with full-time employment.

You will collaborate with data scientists, analysts and engineers to implement scalable data solutions, improve performance, and ensure data security while maintaining regulatory compliance.

About our team

Meet the Credit Desicion Data Store team. Our role is to build reliable source of truth for credit assessment data that can be further used operationally and analytically in the Bank

Main responsibilities in this role:

• Design efficient database schemas, business-aligned data models, data dictionaries and technical documentation covering integration points and data flows.
• Improve database reliability, performance and security by proposing optimization techniques, validation rules, access controls, backup and recovery approaches, and error handling mechanisms.
• Design data ingestion, transformation and quality-control patterns that standardize, clean and validate data from multiple sources, including automated workflows for recurring processing.
• Support integration across systems by designing message queues and event-driven patterns, ensuring data consistency, troubleshooting synchronization issues and collaborating with internal and external teams.
• Shape data initiatives into manageable work packages by estimating effort, defining timelines and helping set the technical roadmap for data infrastructure.

Your background and skills include:

• Solid experience in data architecture and design, data modelling, data warehousing solutions and data integration patterns.
• Proficiency in database design and management across SQL and NoSQL technologies, including schema design, constraints, stored procedures, functions and triggers.
• Strong understanding of ETL processes and tools such as DataStage, Informatica and Snowflake ETL, plus familiarity with big data technologies such as Hadoop and Spark and Kafka event streaming.
• Proficiency in UML, especially ERD, sequence and component diagrams, together with an understanding of BPMN and end-to-end process thinking.
• Good working knowledge of data governance principles, data quality practices, performance optimization, debugging/troubleshooting and CI/CD pipeline concepts.

It would be ideal if you also:

• Have hands-on experience documenting complex data flows, integration landscapes and data dictionaries in regulated environments.
• Have designed event-driven or queue-based integration patterns and helped define operational recovery mechanisms for critical data processes.
• Can support communities of practice through knowledge-sharing sessions, architecture guidance and reusable documentation standards.
