Job summary

Lufthansa Systems Poland in Gdańsk seeks an experienced Database Administrator to maintain critical aeronautical applications, optimize performance, and ensure 24/7 availability. The role includes data provisioning on production databases and incident resolution in a fast-paced environment.

You will work from the Gdańsk office twice a week in a flexible hybrid setup with 12-hour shifts and weekends. English and Polish communication are essential, and knowledge across multiple DB technologies is

Qualifications

• Experience as a Database Administrator (DBA).
• Practical knowledge of SQL and database management principles.
• Basic knowledge of Linux shell scripting.
• Good communication skills in English and Polish.
• Willingness to work from the Gdańsk office twice a week and cover 12h shifts.

The DBA Team provides end-to-end database engineering and operations services for the Lufthansa Group and more than 70 airline customers worldwide. We are responsible for the entire database lifecycle - from architecture design, deployment, and configuration to 24/7 monitoring, performance optimisation, and secure decommissioning. Our experts ensure that business-critical database environments remain reliable, scalable, and secure, enabling seamless operations across the global aviation industry.

You will be responsible for:

• Database administration and data provisioning for critical aeronautical applications,
• Data modifications on production database,
• Incident resolution.

Who are you?

Our requirements:

• Experience in working as a Database Administrator (DBA).
• Practical knowledge of SQL and database management principles.
• Basic knowledge of Linux shell scripting.
• Good communication skills in both English and Polish.
• A willingness to learn, develop new skills, and work with diverse database technologies.
• Good command of spoken and written English (B2/C1).
• Willingness to work from the Gdańsk office twice a week
• Readiness for shift work (our team render a 24/7 service, including nights, weekends and holidays; we work on 12h shifts, 8:00-20:00, 20:00-8:00).

Nice to have:

• Hands-on experience with Actian Ingres, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, and PostgreSQL databases
• Experience in SQL tuning,
• Working in ITIL oriented environment
