Job summary

Capgemini Invent in Wrocław is seeking a Senior Data Governance Strategist to drive data governance strategy engagements and design modern governance frameworks for data, analytics and AI initiatives.

You will lead the semantic foundation, work with data engineers to implement catalogs and governance standards, ensure GDPR compliance, and mentor consultants while building client relationships and contributing to thought leadership.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in data governance or data management, including leading engagements or teams.
• Deep knowledge of data governance principles and methodologies (DAMA-DMBOK); CDMP or equivalent is a plus.
• Hands-on with business glossaries, taxonomies and ontologies; fond of semantic tech (RDF, OWL, SKOS).
• Experience with data quality, metadata and master data management.
• Experience with data privacy, data sovereignty and residency requirements (GDPR, cross-border transfers).
• Proven ability to lead client engagements and workshops; strong communication skills; fluent English.

Responsibilities

• Lead data governance strategy engagements: maturity assessments, target operating model, policies, roadmap and business case.
• Design governance frameworks aligned with DAMA-DMBOK and adapt to data mesh and federated models.
• Own the semantic foundation: glossary, concept model, taxonomies and ontologies; define knowledge graph and metadata standards.
• Write standards and model key concepts; review quality rules and catalog content when needed.
• Make governance operational with data owners and stewards: decision rights, forums, issue management and metrics.
• Collaborate with data engineers and platform teams to implement standards in catalogs, semantic layers and data platforms.
• Define data classification, residency rules, and GDPR/compliance controls; evidence of governance in practice.
• Support AI/analytics initiatives with governed definitions and semantic context; ensure data access sovereignty.
• Lead and develop consultants, manage engagements and client relationships; contribute to offers and thought leadership.
