Job summary

Roche is seeking a Contracts Manager for Site Services Facilities to join Global Procurement in Basel. You will support Third-Party Risk Management, draft contracts, and negotiate terms with business partners while ensuring compliance and risk mitigation.

You will collaborate with internal and external partners across international teams, travel as needed, and contribute to continuous improvement of contract processes. English fluency is required; German is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Legal expertise for contract drafting and complex terms.
  • 7+ years in contract management and Site Services facilities.
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical industry is a plus.
  • Strong written and spoken English; German a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Draft contractual terms based on strategy and input from business partners.
  • Independently handle contractual clauses and legal issues with legal department support.
  • Advise partners on legal/compliance issues and identify risks.
  • Ensure service delivery and optimize contract quality and effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with procurement, partners, and experts to reflect strategies in contracts.
  • May lead sub-projects in subject-specific areas.

Contracts Manager - Site Services Facilities

The Opportunity:

As Contract Manager Site Services Facilities you are part of the Global Procurement in the Risk, Contracts & Compliance team Direct Materials & Site Services (DM&SS) Contracts group.

You will report directly to the Head of Direct Materials and Site Services Contracts and be focusing on supporting Third-Party Risk Management processes including contract drafting and negotiations.

You will support our team in Basel in the following exciting challenges:

  • The focus of the work is on supporting local and global procurement and business partners in contract negotiations and contract preparation
  • This includes, but is not limited to, advising business partners and influencing the various business partners in relation to legal or compliance issues as well as identifying specific risks
  • You are drafting the contractual terms based on strategy discussions, business partner input and organizational needs and expectations
  • You have the ability to independently handle contractual clauses and legal issues. You put this knowledge in the contract design and development until the finalization of the contract. You will be supported by the legal department
  • You ensure service delivery and contribute to optimizing the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of the service level as part of a continuous improvement process
  • Working closely with procurement, business partners, and subject matter experts, you can work out solutions to problems and ensure that their strategies are reflected in the contracts
  • You have a proven track record of general contract procedures and advise business partners with important contract contents and ensure that they are reflected in the contracts
  • If required, you take over the (sub) project management in subject-specific projects
Who you are:
  • The basis for your success in this versatile area of responsibility is a successfully completed study with a legal and/or technical focus or an equivalent university degree (Master of Laws / Bachelor of Laws / Master of Business Laws / Diploma in Engineering)
  • You have legal expertise for contract drafting and are able to draft complex contractual contracts and terms on your own.
  • You have 7+ years of experience in contract management and Site Services Facilities projects and ideally have experience in the pharmaceutical industry
  • You have already successfully demonstrated to use your professional competence in complex contract negotiation and contract structuring in your professional practice as well as in risk management areas
  • Based on your strong communication skills and your negotiation skills, you will be able to communicate in a business-oriented and targeted manner with internal and external partners at all levels of the hierarchy
  • Against this background, excellent written and spoken English skills are indispensable
  • German fluency - nice to have.
  • You have the assertiveness and act goal-oriented.
  • Furthermore, you have many years of experience in project cooperation and project management in international teams
  • The willingness to travel rounds off your profile
