We are seeking a Construction Contract Manager to join an international renewable energy company, based in Warsaw, supporting the delivery of onshore wind, solar PV and battery energy storage (BESS) projects.
Reporting directly to the VP Construction, you will partner with Construction Project Managers and regional Heads of Construction across Central Europe as the portfolio develops. You will protect the company’s commercial interests during project execution through proactive contract administration, effective claims management and negotiation with contractors and suppliers.
This hands-on role offers the opportunity to shape commercial practices, strengthen project teams’ contractual capabilities and champion AI-supported contract management tools.
Responsibilities:
- Review construction and supply contracts before execution, identifying obligations, notice requirements, contractual time bars and commercial risks.
- Manage contractual correspondence, notices, variations and claims, ensuring timely action and robust supporting evidence.
- Lead or support negotiations on claims, variations and disputes, protecting contractual entitlements and addressing cost and schedule impacts.
- Maintain proactive, culturally aware communication with contractors and suppliers, preserving constructive relationships during challenging negotiations.
- Report significant commercial risks to construction leadership and Legal, coordinating approved external legal support and controlling its scope and costs.
- Support commercial close-out, final accounts, outstanding contractual obligations and warranty claims.
- Coach project managers, feed lessons learned into future contracts and drive the adoption of AI-supported contract management tools.
Requirements:
- At least 5 years’ experience in commercial or contract management during the execution of capital-intensive projects in renewable energy, energy infrastructure or comparable major construction sectors.
- Proven hands-on experience in claims, variations, contractual notices and dispute resolution, with direct negotiation responsibility and demonstrable commercial outcomes.
- Strong knowledge of construction and supply contracts; familiarity with FIDIC is advantageous.
- Experience with EPC contractors or OEMs is particularly welcome. Candidates from IPPs should demonstrate direct involvement in construction execution.
- Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to protect the owner’s commercial position while maintaining productive relationships.
- Ability to work independently in a hands-on role without direct reports and coach project managers on contractual matters.
- Fluent English and good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including MS Project.
Additional information:
- Location: Warsaw, with responsibility across Central European markets.
- Direct exposure to senior leadership and the opportunity to shape commercial practices across an international project portfolio.
