Qualifications

• 3-5 years as a cloud or platform engineer, ideally having built and run a cloud platform yourself.
• Strong working knowledge of GCP and AWS: logging, cost exports, storage lifecycle policies.
• Proven ability to query logs and turn findings into measurable savings.
• Programming in Python or Java; experience with IaC and CI/CD pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Query and deep-dive into billing files and logs to identify drivers of spend and actionable cost reductions.
• Identify and prioritise savings across log ingestion, retention, tiering, sampling and routing.
• Build and deploy the solution in Python or Java with automation and IaC.
• Develop repeatable automation for logging and storage optimization across the estate.
• Support GCP and AWS platform teams in cost-aware solutions.
• Prepare optimisation proposals with savings forecasts and clear assumptions.
