Job summary

Akamai is seeking a Principal Site Reliability Engineer Lead to shape the future of our Next Generation Control Plane. You will guide a distributed, cloud-native stack built on Kubernetes, focusing on scale, resilience, and a code-first approach to infrastructure.

You will lead a team, define SLOs/KPIs, and collaborate with Engineering, Product, and Support to drive reliable, observable systems at massive scale.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (or similar field) or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of relevant experience in SRE/DevOps and cloud-native architectures.
• Deep experience building and operating highly available, fault-tolerant production services on Kubernetes.
• Solid understanding of Linux internals, containerization, and networking.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to design, development, and operation of a Golden Path platform on Kubernetes and cloud-native tech.
• Provide leadership, support, and mentoring to your team.
• Create and maintain SLOs and KPIs with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Product, Support).
• Participate in on-call rotations, guiding restoration of service-impacting issues.
• Foster innovative solutions with rapid development cycles and open communication.
