Job summary

Avenga is seeking a Product Owner who brings deep oncology domain understanding to translate clinical needs into a prioritized product backlog. You will work closely with clinicians, developers, and IT to refine requirements and drive delivery of patient-centered software.

You will lead by example in SAFe environments, align roadmaps with clinical goals, and communicate effectively across multidisciplinary teams to ensure outcomes that improve cancer care delivery.

Qualifications

• Direct experience with oncology care delivery or related clinical specialty in a hospital, cancer center, or software-for-clinical use.
• Ability to articulate the end-to-end oncology patient journey from referral to follow-up.
• Understanding of how hospitals operate and what clinicians need in tools.
• Familiarity with EMR/EHR, pathology/radiology reports, and biomarker testing data.
• Skills to hold conversations with oncologists, pathologists, nurses, and IT as a peer.
• Know-how of regulatory and quality frameworks for clinical software.

Responsibilities

• Translate clinical needs into a prioritized, well-scoped backlog with input from architecture, security, and UX.
• Write clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and technical requirements for delivery.
• Work in agile at scale (SAFe) to align with program increments.
• Operate fluently in Jira and Confluence to manage work artifacts.
• Run demos of working software and advocate for the user perspective in development.
• Negotiate, prioritize, and say no to work that doesn’t deliver clinical or business value.
• Lead the definition phase to prepare the delivery backlog and PI planning.
• Support the Business Product Manager with customer feedback and discovery backlog.
• Collaborate with product management to prepare feature backlogs for the next train.
• Share early feedback with the development team to align with PI objectives.
• Keep the backlog focused on high-value items and evidence-based prioritization.
