Job summary

Valmet invites a Category Purchaser to join the team in Jelenia Góra, Poland, serving Valmet EMEA Service Operations. The temporary role supports cross-functional groups globally and coordinates supplier relationships, POs, and cost-saving initiatives within the ERP environment.

The candidate will lead negotiations, manage supplier performance, and contribute to procurement strategy in a dynamic, international setting. Polish and English fluency are essential; a driving license is required.

Qualifications

• Master's or Bachelor's degree in engineering or commercial preferred.
• At least 3 years of experience in a similar procurement role.
• Strong analytical and decision-making abilities with global matrix experience.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills in Polish and English.

Responsibilities

• Execute procurement assignments for named categories/suppliers.
• Follow-up purchase orders for cost, quality and delivery time.
• Maintain price agreements and item data in ERP and related systems.
• Plan and conduct annual price negotiations with defined suppliers.
• Define supply strategies with procurement team members (QA, logistics).
• Drive long-term cost savings and supplier base development.
• Manage supplier relationships and support cost-estimation activities.
• Ensure strategy implementation with selected vendors and monitor tech advances.
• Seek and evaluate new suppliers to expand the supplier base.
• Review PO claims/contracts for conformance to policy.
• Support CCC sourcing and manage inventory to healthy net working capital.

Are you looking for an opportunity to launch your career to the next level? We are looking for Category Purchaser’s to work in our team in Jelenia Góra, Poland?

Valmet is looking for Category Purchaser’s who can lead, coordinate and execute procurement work for Valmet EMEA Supply Chain, ensuring there is a competent, competitive and timely supplier base. With location in Wrocław, Poland. you will serve Valmet EMEA Service Operations and work in close cooperation with suppliers and several functions such as Valmet global sourcing team, sales, engineering, quality, logistics and many others.

This is a temporary position - until December 31, 2027

Other Responsibilities Include

• Execute procurement assignments for named categories/suppliers
• Follow-up purchase orders for cost, quality and delivery time
• Responsible for price agreement and item maintenance in our ERP system and related systems
• Plan and execute annual price negotiations with defined suppliers
• Define supply strategies and plan, priorities, time schedules as well as action plans together with procurement team members such as supplier quality and logistics
• Define and ensure implementation of long-term cost savings
• Develop the existing supplier base in cooperation with Category Management function based on general supplier requirements such as on-time delivery, quality, lead-times, innovation and cost
• Responsible for supplier relationship management
• Support sales and cost-estimation functions in sales projects with cost-data and sourcing activities
• Ensure implementation of defined strategies with the selected vendors
• Be updated in terms of technological development in the industry
• Responsibility to actively seek and evaluate new suppliers
• Review purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to Valmet policy
• Drive Cost Competitive Country (CCC) sourcing
• Manage inventory levels and support a healthy net working capital

To Succeed In This Role, You Will Need

• Master's or Bachelor's degree. Preferred fields of study: engineering or commercial
• 3 years of working experience in a similar role
• Excellent analytical skills and ability to run with swift and fact-based decisions
• Strong influencing and negotiations skills with demonstrated ability to achieve results in a global matrix organization
• Strong knowledge of Windows environment (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and ERP Systems (Infor LN competence is preferrable)
• Fluent in Polish and English, Other languages are an asset
• High level of commitment and proactive approach
• Ability to work and perform well under pressure with tight deadlines
• Driving license. B
