Job summary

BD is a leading global medical technology company seeking a data-driven professional to own the Azure data platform, manage ETL processes, and drive reporting and analytics with Power BI. You will optimize data flows, ensure data quality, and partner with Distribution Excellence to provide actionable insights.

The role emphasizes end-to-end data engineering, data governance, and teamwork to deliver reliable analytics across reporting layers.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in Data Analytics, Data Engineering, or BI roles.
• Proven hands-on experience with Azure-based data platforms (e.g., Data Factory, Azure SQL).
• Strong experience designing, maintaining, and optimizing ETL processes and data pipelines.
• Experience end-to-end data flows from source systems to reporting layers.
• Experience supporting business/reporting functions, not purely IT‑focused.
• Experience coordinating with cross-functional stakeholders and guiding team members.

Responsibilities

• Own and manage the Azure environment supporting Distribution Excellence use cases.
• Maintain and monitor data pipelines, storage, and integration components.
• Coordinate with IT/platform teams on access, security, and governance.
• Maintain and enhance ETL pipelines; troubleshoot failures and optimize performance.
• Develop, maintain, and optimize SQL queries and data models for Power BI datasets.
• Oversee Power BI governance, dashboards, and dataset refresh management.
• Ensure data quality, traceability, and KPI definitions across reporting layers.
• Collaborate with Distribution Excellence teams to translate business needs into analytics.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

1. Azure Data Platform Ownership

• Own and manage the Azure environment supporting Distribution Excellence use cases
• Maintain and monitor key services (e.g., data pipelines, storage, integration components)
• Coordinate with IT / platform teams on access, security, and governance

2. ETL Process Management

• Maintain and enhance existing ETL pipelines (data extraction, transformation, loading)
• Troubleshoot data pipeline failures and ensure timely resolution
• Optimize data flows for performance and scalability
• Ensure proper documentation of data transformations and logic

3. SQL & Data Modeling

• Develop, maintain, and optimize SQL queries supporting reporting and analytics
• Manage data models used for Power BI datasets and reporting layers
• Ensure data consistency across multiple sources
• Perform root cause analysis for data discrepancies

4. Power BI Reporting & Analytics

• Ensure overall ownership and governance of Power BI reporting solutions
• Supervise and guide the development and maintenance of dashboards
• Oversee report performance optimization, usability, and scalability
• Ensure proper management of dataset refreshes, data models, and workspace governance
• Validate translation of business requirements into robust and scalable reporting solutions

5. Data Governance & Quality

• Ensure data quality, completeness, and reliability across all reporting layers
• Implement controls and validation logic within ETL and reporting processes
• Support audit requirements by ensuring traceability of data sources and transformations
• Define and document data definitions and KPIs

6. Business Partnership (Distribution Excellence)

• Collaborate with Distribution Excellence teams to understand reporting needs
• Provide actionable insights on distributor performance and risks
• Support performance management processes with reliable analytics
• Bridge the gap between technical data structures and business requirements

7. Continuous Improvement

• Identify opportunities to automate manual processes
• Improve data architecture and simplify existing solutions
• Introduce best practices in data engineering and reporting

8. Team Coordination

• Provide guidance and prioritization for assigned team member
• Ensure continuity, knowledge sharing, and delivery reliability across reporting solutions

Required Qualifications

Experience

• 6+ years of experience in Data Analytics, Data Engineering, or Business Intelligence roles
• Proven hands‑on experience with Azure-based data platforms (e.g., Data Factory, Azure SQL, or similar)
• Strong experience in designing, maintaining, and optimizing ETL processes and data pipelines
• Experience working with end‑to‑end data flows (from source systems to reporting layer)
• Experience supporting business/reporting functions (not purely IT‑focused role)
• Experience in collaborating with cross‑functional stakeholders
• Experience in coordinating or guiding other team members is an advantage
