Job summary

Red Commerce Schweiz GmbH is seeking a Backend Engineer for a 3-month contract (remote within the EU) to build the backend of an enterprise AI Agent Platform, focusing on enabling AI agents to communicate and integrate through Agent-to-Agent (A2A) technology. The role requires Python backend development, REST APIs, and strong AWS experience.

You will develop the Agent Gateway, including agent registration, configuration and routing, and work with AWS Agent Core Runtime and Gateway to implement

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience as a backend developer.
• Experience with python backend development, ideally async Python.
• Experience with REST API development, including building endpoints.
• Strong experience with AWS, particularly AgentCore Runtime and Gateway.
• Experience with AI Agent / Agent-to-Agent (A2A) integration.
• Experience with API integration and routing.
• Experience with Microservices / distributed communication.
• Experience with event-driven development, including SSE and webhooks.
• Strong understanding of JSON-RPC 2.0.
• Experience with AWS Bedrock / multi-agent experience is beneficial.
• Experience with OpenTelemetry / ADOT is a nice-to-have.

Job description

Backend Engineer - 3 Month + Likely extention - Fully remote - EU

RED now has a new contract opportunity for a Backend engineer to join one of our key partners for an AWS Security project. The initial contract will be for 3 months with likely 10-month extension.

This full-time contract is due to start in ASAP, and will be Remote in Europe.

Role responsibilities:

You will be responsible for building and developing the backend of an enterprise AI Agent Platform, with a key focus on enabling AI agents to communicate and integrate with one another through Agent-to-Agent (A2A) technology. You will develop backend services primarily using Python, build and integrate REST APIs, and help create the Agent Gateway, including agent registration, configuration and routing. The role involves working with AWS Agent Core Runtime and Gateway, implementing A2A and multi-agent communication patterns, and developing asynchronous, event-driven integrations using technologies such as SSE and webhooks. Overall, you need to be a strong backend engineer with experience in Python, APIs, AWS, AI agent integrations and event-driven architecture.
