HSBC Service Delivery (Polska) Sp. z o.o. in Kraków is seeking a Software Engineer (Backend Java/API) to join our Messaging Delivery Platform team on a permanent basis. Build and operate distributed backend services in a modern, Agile environment.

You will work with Java, Spring Boot, Kubernetes, AWS, and OpenAPI-based APIs to deliver secure, scalable messaging solutions for HSBC customers and internal systems.

Qualifications

Senior experience in Java and Spring Boot.
Experience building and running services on Kubernetes.
Practical experience with Cloud, particularly AWS.
Strong knowledge of API design standards, including OpenAPI 3.0 / Swagger, REST, JSON, and Microservices.
Experience with CI/CD toolchains including GitHub, Jira, Jenkins, Maven, and Groovy.
Knowledge of service security including OAuth 2.0 authentication/authorisation, plus experience with Kong API Gateway.
Solid understanding of Agile testing discipline (e.g., TDD) and Agile/Scrum delivery experience.
Ability to learn new technologies quickly and apply them to delivery challenges.

We’re seeking a Software Engineer (Backend Java/API) to join our Messaging Delivery Platform team in Kraków on a permanent basis. The platform centralises the delivery of messages to the bank’s customers over outbound channels that are relevant to the customer, aligned to business strategy. It consists of several evolving systems/components and is undergoing modernisation and standardisation.

You’ll be part of a multi-disciplinary, Agile team designing and building distributed systems using modern technology stacks, with the opportunity to work with engineers across multiple geographies.

What you’ll be doing:

Build high-quality applications/systems to agreed requirements, on time, and to Group/local standards.
Design and deliver distributed systems using modern stacks; quickly learn and apply new technologies.
Write efficient, secure, resilient, performant, and operable code that meets the definition of done and manages dependencies.
Perform unit testing and help establish/maintain appropriate automated test coverage.
Review and challenge code, design, and implementation to ensure top quality and alignment with HSBC/industry standards.
Maintain expert knowledge across relevant platforms; stay current with tools and technology trends.
Collaborate closely with Agile teams (engineering, QA, product, architecture, operations) and partner with stakeholders to translate requirements into solutions.
Drive innovation, strong problem-solving/decision-making, and accountability for control and compliance across engineering.

You’re a great candidate if you have these:

Senior experience in Java and Spring Boot.
Experience building and running services on Kubernetes.
Practical experience with Cloud, particularly Amazon Web Services (AWS).
Strong knowledge of API design standards, patterns, and best practices including OpenAPI 3.0 / Swagger, REST, JSON, and Microservices.
Experience with CI/CD toolchains including GitHub, Jira, Jenkins (shared libraries), Maven, and Groovy.
Knowledge of service security including OAuth 2.0 authentication/authorisation, plus experience with Kong API Gateway.
Solid understanding of Agile testing discipline (e.g., TDD) and strong Agile/Scrum delivery experience.
Ability to learn new technologies and business domains quickly and apply them to real delivery challenges.

What you’ll get with us:

The pay range for this role is 17 500 PLN - 23 000 PLN (monthly, gross).

Variable pay is discretionary, but influenced by Group performance, business/function performance and individual performance.
