Job summary

VASS BENELUX in Warsaw is seeking an Automation Engineer to design, implement, and maintain automated IT operations. You will write scripts (Python, PowerShell, Bash) and use Ansible and IaC tools to provision and manage infrastructure across VMware and cloud platforms.

The role requires 5+ years of relevant experience, strong collaboration across teams, and familiarity with ITIL-based change management and security practices.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of automation engineering experience.
• Strong scripting skills in Python, PowerShell or Bash.
• Experience with Ansible and IaC tools.
• Knowledge of virtualization and major cloud platforms.
• Experience with ITIL-based change and release management.

VASS BENELUX is partnering with FRONTEX to find a talented Automation Engineer to join the team in Warsaw!

Frontex (the European Border and Coast Guard Agency) is an agency of the European Union that supports EU Member States and Schengen-associated countries in managing the EU's external borders. Its responsibilities include border management, preventing cross-border crime, combating irregular migration, and supporting search and rescue operations.

Tasks and responsibilities:

• Designing, implementing, and maintaining automated systems and tools to support various IT operations, including infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, monitoring, deployment, and incident response (products including VMware, Azure/AWS/Google Cloud, Windows Server and Linux Red Hat)
• Analyzing existing IT processes and workflows, identifying areas for improvement, proposing and developing automation strategies to increase efficiency, reduce errors, and enhance scalability
• Writing scripts and developing code using programming languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash to automate routine tasks, data processing, and system integration
• Utilizing configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible) and infrastructure-As-code (IaC) frameworks (e.g., Terraform, VMware ARIA Automation) to automate the provisioning, configuration, and management of IT infrastructure components
• Recommending and implementing IT best practices
• Implementing changes according to ICT change management procedures
• Providing 2nd line support to other IT teams and coordinating with 3rd line of support
• Updating the technical documentation and operating procedures
• Evaluating and implementing IT security standards
• Participation in coordination and project meetings
• Other specific duties aligned to profile as assigned by supervisor

What we're looking for:

• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell or Bash
• At least 5 years of relevant experience to the role
• Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible
• Experience with Infrastructure automatization tools such as Terraform or VMware ARIA Automation
• Strong knowledge of virtualization platforms (such as VMware vSphere) and Cloud platforms (such as Azure, AWS or Google Cloud)
• Strong knowledge of Windows Server and Linux Red Hat configuration and automatization
• Experience in collaborating with multiple support groups
• Experience with ticketing systems and ITIL based change management, configuration management and release management processes
• B2 English Certificate is a big plus
• Good organizational and prioritizing skills
• A proactive attitude, team-work spirit, being self-motivated with a strong user orientation
• Able to cope with fast changing technologies
