Job summary

Sword Services Greece is seeking an Automation Engineer to join our IT team. You will design, implement, and maintain automation solutions for IT infrastructure across on-premises and cloud environments, supporting large EU institutions and private sector clients.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of automation engineering experience, strong scripting (Python/PowerShell/Bash), hands-on IaC with Ansible and Terraform, and solid knowledge of VMware/vSphere, cloud platforms (Azure/AWS/Google Cloud),

Qualifications

• 5+ years of proven working experience as an Automation Engineer or similar role.
• BSc degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
• Proficiency in Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
• Hands-on experience with Ansible, Terraform, or VMware Aria Automation.
• Strong knowledge of VMware vSphere and virtualization technologies.
• Experience with Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
• Strong knowledge of Windows Server and Red Hat Linux.
• Understanding of ITIL, change management, configuration management, and release management.
• Experience with ticketing systems and enterprise IT environments.
• Excellent English communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop scripts and solutions to automate provisioning, configuration, deployment, monitoring, and incident response.
• Automate infrastructure across on-premises and cloud environments.
• Implement and manage Infrastructure-as-Code and configuration management solutions.
• Support IT change management activities and ensure changes follow established procedures.
• Provide 2nd-level technical support and coordinate with 3rd-level support teams.
• Maintain technical documentation and operating procedures.
• Support the implementation of IT security standards and best practices.

About the role...

The successful candidate will work in a multinational environment on a multitude of tasks supporting our business in implementing and developing solutions for large EU and international institutions and private sector companies in Greece and abroad.

What you will do...

• Strong knowledge of VMware vSphere and virtualization technologies.

• Experience with ticketing systems and enterprise IT environments.
• Strong troubleshooting, organizational, prioritization, and communication skills.
• Excellent command of the English language, both written and verbal.
