Job summary

Bechtel Poland is seeking a Contracts Lead to manage subcontracts for a major AP1000 nuclear project, coordinating with Bechtel and partners to ensure safe, compliant execution.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) required.

  • Strong knowledge of Polish supply chain laws, ESG, and cross-border compliance.
  • Experience with Oracle Procurement Cloud and contract management.

Responsibilities

  • Defines and develops the scope of Contracts work on mid-to-large projects, preparing plans, schedules, estimates, forecasts, and budgets.
  • Prepares commercial terms for project contract documents and ensures alignment with the prime contract.
  • Develops Supply Chain Assignment Schedule and contracting plan.
  • Coordinates contract execution with Engineering and Construction plans to support project goals.
  • Reviews bid evaluations and approves bidder selection within authority.
  • Supervises subcontract staff and ensures compliance with directives and procedures.

Project Overview

Bechtel and Westinghouse Electric Company have partnered to deliver the first AP1000 nuclear power reactors in Poland for our customer, the Polish Entity Polskie Elektrownie Jadrowe (PEJ). Bechtel will be the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor for the project. As the EPC, our responsibilities will include providing the design for the Turbine Island and Balance of Plant as well as the construction of the entire facility. This is a one‑of‑a‑kind opportunity, and we are looking for the talent that will help expand Poland’s nuclear base and build a strong and long‑lasting energy future for generations to come. This position is subject to U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) regulations at 10 CFR Part 810 (Part 810), which govern the transfer of hardware, materials, and technology to support the construction and operation of commercial nuclear power plants overseas.

Job Summary

In this role, you will lead a team to manage subcontracts and monitor operations. You will develop the subcontracting strategy, operating procedures, staffing plan, and the contracts section of the Project Execution Plan. You will review and approve bid details, commitments, and negotiations. Your oversight will ensure project subcontracting is consistent and that requirements have been implemented.

Major Responsibilities
  • Participates with the project team on a medium to large sized project in defining and developing the scope of Contracts work, and in preparing and coordinating Contracts plans, procedures, schedules, estimates, forecasts, and budgets
  • Prepares and/or directs preparation of commercial terms and conditions for use on project contract documents, ensuring that requirements of the prime contract are incorporated
  • Ensures in the development of the Supply Chain Assignment Schedule and the division of responsibility
  • Coordinates Contract execution plan with Engineering and Construction plans and operations to ensure that input from these disciplines will enable Contracts to perform its functions in accordance with project plans
  • Reviews evaluations with global business unit functional managers and the global business unit Manager of Supply Chain
  • Manages the Subcontract for a contract of low to medium risk or complexity
  • Provides functional direction and/or supervision to all assigned subcontracts personnel and monitors operations to ensure all activities are performed in accordance with project requirements and applicable directives, management instruction, procedures, and functional guidelines
  • Develops and implements the subcontracting strategy for assigned project or office, incl. development and translation of the Supply Chain Assignment Schedule into a specific working contracting plan
  • Reviews bid tabulations for accuracy, bidder recommendation, completeness, and approves selection of bidders within delegated approval authority
  • Ensures all commitments made by subordinate personnel are accurately presented and follow established approval and signing authorities contained in company policies and procedures
Education And Experience Requirements
  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 15-18 years of relevant experience or 18-20 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge And Skills
  • Experience with and knowledge of Contracts.
  • Strategic Sourcing & Subcontractor Engagement: Experienced in supplier qualification, performance evaluation, contract management, and vendor partnerships to enhance value and ensure compliance.
  • Demonstrated expertise in overseeing the development of intricate contract packages through effective cross-departmental collaboration.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management: Understanding of Polish supply chain laws, including ESG, labour, GDPR, and cross-border compliance.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Able to work efficiently across legal, supply chain, operations, engineering, construction, and compliance teams.
  • Skilled in Oracle Procurement Cloud and similar enterprise systems for procurement planning, sourcing, and contract management.
  • Expertise in developing claims mitigation strategies as well as claims evaluation, negotiation plan development, and successful negotiations.
  • Knowledge of Poland's Public Procurement Law (Prawo zamówień publicznych), including tender notifications, bid evaluation, appeals, vendor communication, and experience with BZP and TED platforms.
  • Proficient in business communication, public speaking, and presentations.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office Suite (competency screening may be required).
  • Experience at translating legal and contractual requirements into actionable supply chain procedures.
  • Professionally proficient in Polish and English languages, capable of managing international stakeholders and documentation.
