Job summary

Bechtel invites applications for a Mechanical Engineer in Warsaw, Poland, supporting the Poland Nuclear project with Westinghouse. You will help develop mechanical systems for the AP1000 project as the EPC contractor, preparing diagrams, calculations, data sheets, and vendor interfaces.

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 1–2 years of experience.

  • Experience in P&ID development and fluid system design.
  • Knowledge of ANSI/ASME Codes and Standards (ASME B31.1/B31.3).
  • Strong bilingual proficiency in English and Polish.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and conduct mechanical work applying engineering techniques.
  • Perform line, pump, valve, and equipment sizing calculations.
  • Develop specifications, data sheets, and material requisitions.
  • Review vendor submittals and integrate into design.
  • Support cost and schedule estimates for the project.

Project Overview

Bechtel and Westinghouse Electric Company have partnered to deliver the first AP1000 nuclear power reactors in Poland for our customer, the Polish Entity Polskie Elektrownie Jadrowe (PEJ). Bechtel will be the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor for the project. As the EPC, our responsibilities will include providing the design for the Turbine Island and Balance of Plant as well as the construction of the entire facility.

This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity, and we are looking for the talent that will help expand Poland's nuclear base and build a strong and long-lasting energy future for generations to come.

This position is subject to U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) regulation 10 CFR Part 810, which governs the transfer of hardware, materials, and technology to support the construction and operation of commercial nuclear power plants overseas

Job Summary

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will support the development of Mechanical systems and equipment for the Poland Nuclear project by preparing studies, piping and instrumentation diagrams, calculations, engineering specifications, data sheets, material requisitions, performing technical bid evaluations, and more in accordance with applicable procedures, codes, standards, and contract requirements. This position will require working with other functions and disciplines in a team environment.

Major Responsibilities
  • Plans and conducts mechanical work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of mechanical engineering techniques, procedures and criteria.
  • Perform formal calculations including but not limited to line sizing, pump sizing, valve sizing, equipment sizing, design pressure and temperature, and heat load calculations.
  • Develop engineering specifications, material requisitions, and data sheets.
  • Review vendor submittals and integrate information into a design solution.
  • Supports the design, development, modification and evaluation of mechanical components and processes utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs).
  • Support development of project cost and schedule estimates.
  • Resolve technical issues related to the discipline including any required interface with other disciplines, functions, vendors, and/or client.
  • Prepares or assists in preparation of conceptual studies, designs,reports, or proposals.
  • Execute schedule requirements while maintaining a high degree of quality in work products.
Education And Experience Requirements

Requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical (or related) Engineering with a minimum of 1-2 years of relevant professional experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Must be authorized to live and work in Poland without sponsorship.
  • Related experience includes, but is not limited to, experience in P&ID development, fluid system design, hydraulic, heat transfer, and thermodynamic calculations, and equipment specification and design development for process facilities.
  • Knowledge of industry and regulatory guides, codes, and standards.
  • Knowledge and application of ANSI/ASME Codes and Standards including ASME B31.1 or B31.3 and/or international equivalents.
  • Knowledge of mechanical engineering work processes, procedures, and specifications.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Strong bilingual proficiency in English and Polish language documents.
  • Ability to utilize office automation tools effectively.
