Job summary

Box is seeking an Analytics Engineer to develop a trusted data foundation, craft modular data models, and govern metrics. You will collaborate with Data Scientists and Analysts to design datasets for analyses, dashboards, and ML models, while advancing testing, observability, and CI practices.

You will evolve our dbt project, shape the semantic layer, and enforce data standards, partnering with Data Engineers and Enterprise Systems to resolve upstream data issues.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in analytics engineering or data engineering
• Strong SQL and data modeling fundamentals
• Experience with dbt or comparable transformation framework
• Engineering discipline: version control, code review, testing, CI
• Proficient in Python and data workflows (Prefect, Airflow, Dagster)
• Experience with a cloud data warehouse (BigQuery is a plus)
• Collaborative in cross-functional teams
• Proactive mindset to improve processes

Responsibilities

• Evolve dbt project toward modular, documented data models
• Define and govern semantic metrics and adoption
• Uphold data modeling standards through reviews and documentation
• Collaborate with Data Scientists and Analysts on datasets for analyses and dashboards
• Build and enforce data testing practices in CI
• Diagnose upstream data issues and drive resolution with Data Engineering
• Build and maintain Prefect workflows for data and models
