Job summary

Royal London is hiring a Data Governance and AI Risk Manager to strengthen its Group Risk & Compliance function. You will provide independent oversight and challenge across Data Governance and AI risk, ensuring secure, compliant, well-governed practices aligned to risk appetite.

You will work with the Group Data & AI Office, business owners and Risk & Controls teams to influence strategic decisions, review AI use cases and deliver insights on key risks and controls across the enterprise.

Qualifications

• Experience in second-line risk management within a regulated environment.
• Strong knowledge of data governance principles and data quality controls.
• Knowledge of AI governance, lifecycle controls and responsible AI principles.
• Understanding of generative AI risks, tool approval, output validation and human oversight.
• Ability to translate policy and regulatory expectations into practical risk requirements.
• Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills for non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Provide independent second-line oversight across Data Governance and AI risk.
• Review AI use case risk assessments and governance decisions.
• Deliver assurance activities across data governance frameworks and AI controls.
• Monitor and report Data Governance and AI risks and risk appetite.
• Identify, escalate and remediate material data and AI-related risks.
• Provide risk opinions to senior leaders and governance forums.
• Promote responsible AI culture while supporting innovation.
