Job summary

ZeptoLab UK Limited is seeking a Technical Director to define the technical vision for Bullet Echo and steer client, battle server, and backend architecture in a live game environment. You will own the technical roadmap, improve engineering practices, manage debt and risks, and drive AI-first development across teams while aligning with product priorities and LiveOps needs.

We expect strong leadership, a deep C++ background, and proven ability to guide a large production codebase.

Qualifications

• 1.5+ years in a leadership role with ownership in live game development
• Strong C++ background with production codebase experience in a live product
• People management experience and ability to lead a technical team
• Deep understanding of real-time multiplayer architecture, client/server interaction, synchronization, networking, and battle servers
• Strong knowledge of high-load backend architecture and distributed systems
• Experience improving engineering practices within an established team and legacy environment
• Experience with LiveOps and production engineering, including releases, CI/CD, testing, monitoring, hotfixes, and incident management
• Experience defining technical strategy and managing technical debt, architectural risks, and engineering capacity
• Experience with AI-assisted or agentic software development and integrating AI into workflows
• Strong ownership to independently define technical direction and drive change
• Experience with custom game engines a plus
• Fluency in English and Russian a potential advantage

Responsibilities

• Define the technical vision for Bullet Echo across client, battle server, and backend architecture
• Evolve the architecture and engineering practices of a large live product
• Own the technical roadmap, quality, debt, and key risks
• Assess feasibility, cost, risk, and architectural impact of initiatives
• Manage technical priorities and engineering capacity across teams
• Improve engineering processes to shorten end-to-end development
• Promote AI-first engineering across development and testing
• Evaluate the technical team and help build a strong engineering organization
