Job summary

Aga Khan University in Karachi is seeking a Manager, Purchasing to lead procurement for medical, non-medical and general goods and services. You will drive strategy, supplier relationships and cost optimization in a healthcare setting.

You will oversee governance, policy compliance, ERP utilization and stakeholder collaboration to support AKU’s mission and procurement excellence. This role requires strong analytical, negotiation and leadership skills.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in business, supply chain, engineering or a related field.
• Certification in Supply Chain (e.g., CIPS, CSCP, CPSM) is an added advantage.
• Min. 5–7 years of experience in Procurement or Supply Chain Management, preferably in hospital environments.
• Proven experience managing procurement of medical, non-medical, pharmaceutical and general supplies.
• Advanced procurement expertise, strategic sourcing, and contract negotiation.
• Leadership in digital transformation, sustainable procurement and stakeholder management.

Responsibilities

• Lead procurement strategy and execution for medical, non-medical, and general goods and services.
• Build strategic supplier relationships and implement performance frameworks.
• Negotiate high-value and long-term contracts to improve Total Cost of Ownership.
• Oversee governance, documentation and ERP utilization for procurement processes.
• Collaborate with internal departments and AKDN groups on major projects.
• Ensure policy compliance, risk mitigation and audit readiness.
