Job summary

Mashreq in Karachi is seeking a Governance and Operational Risk professional to implement and review procedures, KPIs and risk controls across lines of defense. You will support audits and ensure regulatory compliance across all segments of the bank.

The role emphasizes strong analytical, negotiation and risk management capabilities to drive improvements, monitor sanctions and AML closures, and strengthen controls with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• The candidate must have at least 3+ years prior experience of handling operational Risk, Audit & Governance Roles.
• CA/ ACCA/ MBA or post graduate qualification.
• Strong and relevant track record in Audit, Compliance and Risk Management.
• Strong analytical skills. Ability to work under tight time constraints & pressure.
• Strong influence and negotiation skills to drive consensus among people.

Responsibilities

• Define and implement a sustainable operational process where there is direct impact on Financial, Operational, Reputational and Regulatory Risks to the Bank.
• Act as a second line of defense for the business through regular reviews (including portfolio) and implement ongoing improvements and aim to reduce the operational and risk losses.
• Responsible for monitoring and execution Compliance/Anti Money laundering directed closures due to Sanctions, STR's on transactions.
• Assist the senior manager with Internal and External Audit, this includes the preliminary phase, scope and post audit closure for all hazards raised for all segments.
• Assist the senior manager in ensuring controls are adequate for risks identified in the processes as well as ensuring coverage of all Regulatory requirements.
• Assist in implementation of Risk Control Self Assessment (RCSA)
• Raise ORE and assist the line manager in representing the business segment in various forums like Business Risk or submission for CRMC.
• Work closely with fraud and compliance teams to eliminate process gaps to reduce risk and improve controls.
• Support the Senior Manager Governance in leading the identification and assessment of risks across all business journeys prior to deployment and through periodic reviews to ensure effective risk management.
