Job summary

Codup is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer to lead quality as an engineering discipline, building automation frameworks and owning the end-to-end quality pipeline from strategy to production release. This role focuses on a bilingual mobile app, spanning UI, APIs, middleware, performance, and security across interconnected services.

The candidate should bring 5+ years in quality engineering, with at least 2 years in mobile app testing on iOS and Android, and must have experience on a greenfield

About The Role

Codup is looking for a Senior Quality Engineer to join an active mobile product delivery engagement. This is an engineering-first quality role, not a traditional QA position. The right candidate approaches quality as an engineering discipline, builds automation frameworks that eliminate manual effort at scale, and takes full ownership of the quality pipeline from test strategy through to production release.

The engagement involves a production-grade, bilingual iOS and Android mobile application integrated with multiple platforms. The quality scope covers the full stack, including mobile UI, APIs, middleware integrations, performance under peak load, and security across interconnected services.

Required Experience

5 or more years in quality engineering, with at least 2 years specifically in mobile app testing on iOS and Android. The candidate must have worked on at least one greenfield project where they built the quality strategy and automation framework from scratch.

Must-have Skills

Need to add Flutter knowledge as a must-have.

• Quality Strategy Ownership — Experience building and owning a test strategy from scratch on a greenfield project, covering all test types from unit through to UAT
• Arabic RTL Testing — Validating BiDi text rendering, mixed Arabic/English content layout, and numeral localization in a production mobile app
• Mobile Test Automation — Hands‑on experience with Appium, Detox, or Flutter‑native testing tools, including UI automation and visual regression testing across iOS and Android
• CI/CD Quality Gates — Writing and maintaining end‑to‑end functional automation scripts integrated into the CI/CD pipeline. Builds do not promote to the next environment unless the automated test suite passes
• API and Integration Testing — REST API validation across multiple integrated platforms, including error states, retry behavior, and edge cases, with end‑to‑end coverage spanning multiple services rather than testing components in isolation
• Performance and Load Testing — Designing and executing peak‑load test scenarios at scale, including simulating high visitor and order volumes simultaneously. Must be able to interpret results and identify bottlenecks across the stack
• Security Testing — OWASP-level security validation across middleware and multi‑platform integrations, including authentication flows, API security, and data handling
• UAT Facilitation — Running structured UAT sessions with client stakeholders, managing feedback, and driving sign‑off
• Defect Management and Reporting — Clear, structured bug reporting with reproduction steps, severity classification, and tracking through to resolution. Communicates quality status clearly to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders
• AI‑First Quality Engineering — Heavy usage of AI tools across the full quality workflow, including test generation, automation scripting, coverage analysis, and reporting. The goal is to significantly reduce manual testing effort across the engagement, not just use AI for test case suggestions
• Flutter and Mobile Platform Knowledge — Sufficient understanding of Flutter architecture to write meaningful widgets and integration tests, and to identify platform‑specific issues across iOS and Android

GOOD TO HAVE

• Experience testing e‑commerce or marketplace app at scale
• Familiarity with Shopify's API behavior and webhook reliability testing
• Experience with visual regression testing tools such as Applitools, LambdaTest, or LambdaTestPercy
• Exposure to data privacy regulations in the GCC/MENA region, specifically PDPL
• Working knowledge of DataDog or similar observability tools for correlating test results with infrastructure metrics
• Experience testing push notification delivery and deep link routing across iOS and Android
