Job Description
Job Purpose
The Senior IT Manager will lead day-to-day IT operations, infrastructure, and cybersecurity for the organization, working hands-on to design, implement, and troubleshoot systems rather than delegating execution. The role combines technical ownership with team leadership — the incumbent is expected to be personally involved in diagnosing issues, configuring systems, and closing out problems, not just directing others to do so.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure & Operations
- Personally manage and maintain servers,networks, cloud infrastructure, and databases; get hands-on with configuration,troubleshooting, and fixes rather than only assigning tickets.
- Ensure uptime, performance, and reliability ofIT systems; act as the first responder for critical incidents.
- Administer ERP, HRMS, CRM, and core businessapplications, including direct configuration and issue resolution.
- Own backup, disaster recovery, and businesscontinuity procedures — test them personally, not just document them.
Cybersecurity
- Implement and maintain cybersecurity controls,endpoint protection, and data security measures.
- Conduct hands-on vulnerability scans and patchmanagement, lead incident response directly during security events.
- Maintain compliance with applicable dataprotection and information security requirements.
IT Service & Support
- Directly resolve escalated helpdesk issues andremain visibly present and available to end users rather than working purely ata supervisory distance.
- Define and monitor SLAs; continuously improvesupport processes based on firsthand observation of recurring issues.
- Manage vendor relationships and hold vendorsaccountable for delivery.
Projects & Automation
- Lead technology implementation and upgradeprojects, staying involved in technical execution (configuration, testing,cutover) alongside planning and coordination.
- Identify and personally drive automation andprocess-integration opportunities across departments.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and risk withregular hands-on checkpoints, not just status reports.
- Build, mentor, and lead a small-to-mid-sized ITteam; work alongside them on technical problems rather than solely delegating.
- Set an example of ownership — step intotechnical issues personally when needed, especially under pressure or tightdeadlines.
- Support technical skill development andperformance management within the team.
- Assist in preparing and monitoring the ITbudget.
- Evaluate technology purchases and vendor proposals forcost-effectiveness and fit.
Requirements
Educational Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science,Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- Relevant certifications (ITIL, CompTIA,Microsoft, AWS, Cisco, or equivalent) preferred.
Experience
- 6–10 years of progressive IT experience, withdemonstrated hands-on technical work (not purely managerial oversight).
- Practical experience with network/serveradministration, ERP/business systems, and cybersecurity fundamentals.
- Proven track record of being personally involvedin problem resolution — comfortable working alongside the team on the ground,not just from a desk.
