Job summary

Datamatics Technologies is seeking an experienced Senior Design System Engineer to lead the development, implementation, and governance of an enterprise Design System. You will bridge Design and Engineering to ensure consistency, scalability, accessibility, and reusability across digital products.

You will design, implement, and govern scalable UI components, collaborate with designers and engineers, and mentor junior staff while driving adoption across multiple teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/SE/HCI or related field.
• 5–10 years in Front-End/UI/Design System development.
• Strong JS/TS, HTML5, CSS3, and modern front-end frameworks.
• Hands-on React experience and component-based architecture.
• Experience building and maintaining enterprise-scale Design Systems.
• Knowledge of Design Tokens, Atomic Design, and Component Libraries.
• Experience with Storybook, Figma, and design-to-development workflows.
• Knowledge of WCAG 2.1 and responsive design principles.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD, and Agile methodologies.

Responsibilities

Role Overview

The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between Design and Engineering, ensuring consistency, scalability, accessibility, and reusability across digital products and platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, maintain, and evolve a scalable Design System and reusable component library
• Collaborate closely with Product Designers, UX Researchers, Product Managers, and Engineering teams
• Develop high-quality, accessible, responsive, and reusable UI components
• Define and enforce design system standards, guidelines, and best practices
• Establish governance processes to ensure design consistency across products
• Translate design tokens, patterns, and specifications into production-ready code
• Drive adoption of the Design System across multiple teams and business units
• Ensure compliance with accessibility standards (WCAG) and responsive design principles
• Monitor system performance, scalability, and usability improvements
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership for front-end architecture decisions

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Human-Computer Interaction, or related field
• 5-10 years of experience in Front-End Engineering, UI Engineering, or Design System development
• Strong expertise in JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3, and modern front-end frameworks
• Hands-on experience with React and component-based architecture
• Experience building and maintaining enterprise-scale Design Systems
• Strong understanding of Design Tokens, Atomic Design, and Component Libraries
• Experience with Storybook, Figma, and design-to-development workflows
• Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1) and responsive design principles
• Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile development methodologies

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Design System governance and adoption strategies
