Job summary

Smart Working is seeking an experienced QA Automation Engineer to own quality across a mature, multi‑repo digital health platform, building and maintaining an automation framework while improving test coverage and overall platform reliability.

Working closely with a small engineering team, you’ll collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements, define and document expected system behaviour, and translate those into effective automated tests.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in QA or test automation with hands-on TypeScript/JavaScript.
• 2+ years of BDD test authoring with Cucumber and Gherkin.
• 3+ years web UI test automation using page object model (Playwright preferred).
• 2+ years of end-to-end QA ownership, including defining, documenting, building and maintaining tests.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end QA process; design and develop automated testing framework.
• Understand multi-repo system from client, end-user and internal perspectives.
• Document expected behaviour where documentation is outdated.
• Author English-readable scenarios in Cucumber and Gherkin.
• Build automation in JavaScript/TypeScript; drive UI through page objects.
• Add data-test-ids to React code and validate database state with SQL.
• Maintain tests as new features arrive; feed requirements for new features.
• Identify compliance, regulatory and security implications; perform exploratory testing.
