Job summary

Smart Working is seeking an experienced QA Automation Engineer to own quality across a mature health-tech platform. You will build and maintain an automation framework, write tests in JavaScript/TypeScript, and collaborate with a small team to translate requirements into robust automated tests.

You will author Cucumber/Gherkin scenarios, drive UI tests with a page object model, validate DB state with SQL, and continually improve release reliability for clients and internal teams.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of QA or test automation with TS/JS.
• 2+ years of BDD with Cucumber and Gherkin.
• 3+ years web UI test automation using a page object model, preferably Playwright.
• 2+ years end-to-end QA ownership including defining, documenting and maintaining tests.
• 3+ years requirements analysis and stakeholder communication.
• 2+ years SQL querying to validate DB state (MySQL or PostgreSQL).
• 4+ years hands-on testing and automation coding in TS/JS.
• Strong attention to detail and edge-case identification.

Responsibilities

• Take end-to-end ownership of QA and design the automated framework.
• Understand multi-repo system from client, end-user and internal perspectives.
• Document expected behaviour and update outdated docs where needed.
• Author English-readable scenarios in Cucumber and Gherkin.
• Build automation in JavaScript/TypeScript and drive UI via page objects.
• Add data-test-ids to React code where missing.
• Validate database state using SQL; ensure data integrity.
• Maintain tests as features arrive and feed requirements upfront.
• Identify regulatory, security and compliance implications.
