Job summary

Smart Working is seeking an experienced QA Automation Engineer to own quality across a mature health-tech platform. You will build and maintain a robust automation framework, collaborate with a small engineering team, and translate business requirements into reliable automated tests.

You will author Cucumber/Gherkin scenarios, automate in JavaScript/TypeScript, and drive UI tests using a page object model. Strong SQL validation and multi-perspective thinking are essential.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of QA or test automation experience with hands-on coding in TS/JS.
• 4+ years of hands-on test automation in TS/JS.
• 2+ years of BDD test authoring with Cucumber and Gherkin.
• 3+ years web UI test automation using a page object model (Playwright preferred).
• 2+ years end-to-end QA ownership including test definition and maintenance.
• 3+ years requirements analysis and stakeholder communication.
• 2+ years SQL querying to validate DB state (MySQL/PostgreSQL).
• 3+ years exploratory testing and defect reproduction.

Responsibilities

• Take end-to-end ownership of QA, designing and developing automated tests.
• Understand a large multi-repo system from client to internal operations.
• Document expected behaviour where documentation is out of date.
• Author English-readable scenarios in Cucumber and Gherkin.
• Build automation in JavaScript and TypeScript.
• Drive UI testing through a page object model and add data-test-ids.
• Validate DB state with SQL and maintain tests as features arrive.
• Feed requirements for new features and flag regulatory implications.
