Job summary

The World Bank Group is seeking a Procurement Specialist based in Islamabad, Pakistan, to support the CMU in procurement operations and governance. The role requires strong knowledge of economic and public-sector procurement, along with experience in engaging with government and international partners.

The selected candidate will work with a team in Pakistan, perform fiduciary reviews, and help develop procurement strategies and training modules. English language proficiency is required.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in a relevant discipline plus a minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement or related responsibilities.
• Knowledge of the concepts, principles and practices governing international procurement, with the ability to translate concepts into operational work.
• Experience with World Bank procurement procedures is a plus.
• Analytical skills to recognize patterns, extract conclusions and develop strategies, with good risk management understanding.
• Excellent communication skills with ability to defend positions to Bank management and government officials.

Responsibilities

• Organizes and delivers procurement services at the CMU, ensuring fiduciary and quality controls.
• Reviews procurement aspects of Bank documents and prepares procurement-related reports.
• Contributes to regional procurement consistency under guidance of senior staff.
• Provides technical fiduciary advice and engages in policy dialogue to strengthen procurement systems.
• Develops and delivers capacity-building workshops and supports clients in achieving value for money in public procurement.
