Job summary

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking an Outreach Worker to support protection initiatives, GBV services, and community-level awareness in Pakistan. The role serves as a link between communities and available protection services, ensuring information and assistance reach those facing barriers to access.

Responsibilities include conducting awareness sessions, identifying individuals needing protection, facilitating safe referrals, and maintaining confidential documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's/Intermediate in Social Sciences, Education, Psychology, Development Studies, or a relevant field from an HEC-recognized board and university.
• 1–2 years of relevant experience in humanitarian, protection, GBV, community-based, or social development programming.
• Experience working with vulnerable and diverse communities.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular community-level awareness sessions on protection, GBV, available services, rights, and referral pathways.
• Disseminate accurate and context-appropriate protection information to community members.
• Engage with community members in a respectful, inclusive, and culturally sensitive manner.
• Identify barriers preventing vulnerable individuals from accessing protection services.
• Identify individuals who may require protection, GBV, MHPSS, health, legal, or other specialized services.
• Provide information on available services and facilitate safe and confidential referrals based on informed consent.
• Follow up on referrals as appropriate and in accordance with established SOPs.
• Immediately report urgent protection concerns through established referral and escalation mechanisms.
• Identify and document emerging protection concerns, risks, and service gaps through approved tools and mechanisms.
• Share relevant protection trends and concerns with the supervisor while maintaining confidentiality.
• Support protection assessments, community consultations, FGDs, KIIs, and other monitoring activities as required.
• Coordinate with WGSS/Hub Center Facilitators, Protection/GBV Case Workers, MHPSS staff, and other relevant teams.
• Support community-level activities and service linkages.
• Participate in training, team meetings, and capacity-building activities.
• Maintain accurate records of outreach activities, awareness sessions, referrals, and community feedback.
• Submit regular activity reports and required data within agreed timelines.
• Ensure confidentiality and safe handling of sensitive information.

The Outreach Worker will support the identification of protection concerns, dissemination of information, community-level awareness, and safe referrals to appropriate services. The position will serve as a link between communities and available protection services, ensuring that information and assistance reach individuals who may face barriers in accessing services.

2. Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's/ Intermediate certificate in Social Sciences, Education, Psychology, Development Studies, or a relevant field from an HEC-recognized board and university.
• At least 1 to 2 years of relevant experience in humanitarian, protection, GBV, community-based, or social development programming.
• Experience working with vulnerable and diverse communities.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and community engagement skills.
• Good documentation, reporting, and basic IT skills.
• Knowledge of local languages and context is preferred.

3. Key Responsibilities

Community Engagement and Awareness
