Job summary

Relief International is seeking a Legal Migration Counsellor and Safeguarding Focal in Pakistan to provide confidential information and counselling on documentation, rights and lawful migration options within RI’s approved scope. The post also supports safeguarding prevention and safe reporting in the assigned province.

The role reports to the Head of Office on routine programme matters and to the Country Director for safeguarding matters.

Qualifications

• LLB or equivalent law qualification; current provincial bar enrolment.
• At least four years of relevant experience in legal information, legal aid, protection or migration counselling.
• Ability to verify legal information and recognize when specialist advice is needed.
• Strong consultation, referral and confidentiality skills.
• Experience with safeguarding, prevention of sexual exploitation, abuse and harassment, child‑sensitive communication and professional boundaries.
• Languages: Pashto/Urdu and a local language; basic English reading and reporting ability.

Responsibilities

• Provide confidential legal information sessions and individual consultations on documentation and lawful migration options.
• Check official notices and guidance; prepare approved, age-appropriate awareness messages on documentation and lawful migration channels.
• Maintain verified contacts for legal aid and administrative services, including eligibility and accessibility arrangements.
• Deliver safeguarding induction and refresher training; promote confidential reporting channels and safe responses to disclosures.
• Uphold RI’s Code of Conduct and safeguarding principles; ensure professional boundaries and responsible handling of sensitive information.
