Job summary

Indus Hospital invites applications for a midwifery role focused on pregnancy care, labor management, and postpartum support. You will supervise and provide care to women at facility and in the community, including essential newborn care and vaccination delivery.

The role includes counseling families, managing complications per basic emergency obstetric care, and participating in 24/7 maternity services with on-call duties. Experience required: 2–3 years.

Qualifications

• Intermediate with Midwifery or LHV diploma.

Job Description

• Give the necessary supervision, care, and advice to women during pregnancy, labor, and the postpartum period
• Conduct deliveries independently at the facility and community level
• Manage complications in pregnancy and childbirth, in accordance with the principles of basic emergency obstetric care
• Provide primary care to women of reproductive age
• Provide essential newborn care, well-baby clinic and well-baby visits at home, neonatal resuscitation where needed, and other interventions that she is trained on including circumcision, IMCI, and vaccinations
• Counsel and educate women, the family, and the community, in relevant areas of health including preparation for parenthood and childbirth
• Provideall non - surgical methods of family planning and counseling for surgical methods
• Obtain specialized assistance as necessary (consultation or referral). Assist women till referral point and follow up on all referrals provided.
• Share knowledge, skill, and expertise with midwifery, medical and nursing students, and nursing andresident staff, in the management of pregnancy and childbirth.
• Perform administrative duties such as patient charting, recording, and reporting of data; clinic and/or facility management (as required); or coordination of specific educational or outreach programs
• Participate in research, professional organizations, and related committees; and in continuing education opportunities 12. Follow established health center policies, procedures, and objectives; continuous quality improvement initiatives; safety, environmental, and infection prevention standards
• Participate in the provision of 24 - hour, 7 - day maternity service, which may require evening, night, or on-call duty
