Job summary

Delivery Hero SE, via its foodpanda unit, is seeking a senior tax professional to lead the tax function in Pakistan. The role emphasizes compliance, advisory, audits, and litigation across direct and indirect taxes and requires managing a team of three tax professionals.

Ideal candidates will have 7–10 years of taxation experience, preferably with a multinational or Big Four background, and strong knowledge of Pakistan's tax laws. SAP experience is a plus and the position is based in Karachi.

Qualifications

• ACCA, CA, ACA, CPA, or equivalent professional qualification.
• 7-10 years of taxation experience, preferably with a Big Four firm and/or a multinational organization.
• Strong knowledge of Pakistan's direct and indirect tax laws.
• Experience in tax compliance, tax advisory, tax audits, and tax litigation.
• Experience in the e-commerce, online marketplace, or technology sector is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead tax compliance, ensure timely and accurate filing of direct and indirect tax returns, statements, and statutory submissions.
• Provide tax advice on commercial initiatives, contracts, new products, and business transactions.
• Lead tax audits, assessments, notices, and litigation with tax authorities, coordinating with external advisors as needed.
• Lead, coach, and develop a team of three tax professionals and ensure timely delivery of objectives.

Job Description

Tax Compliance

• Ensure timely and accurate filing of all direct and indirect tax returns, statements, and statutory submissions.
• Ensure timely payment of taxes and compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations.
• Monitor changes in tax legislation and support implementation across the business.
• Coordinate and ensure timely completion of tax compliance, reporting, and other deliverables required by the Regional and Central Tax teams.

Tax Advisory & Business Support

• Provide tax advice on commercial initiatives, contracts, new products, and business transactions.
• Assess tax implications of business decisions and recommend practical, tax-efficient solutions.
• Support implementation of tax planning initiatives and identify opportunities to optimize tax efficiency.

Tax Audits & Litigation

• Lead tax audits, assessments, notices, and litigation with tax authorities.
• Prepare responses to tax notices and coordinate with external advisors where required.
• Identify tax risks and implement appropriate mitigation measures to minimize regulatory and financial exposure.

Team Leadership

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of three tax professionals.
• Allocate work, monitor performance, and ensure timely delivery of team objectives.
• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.
