Mashreq Bank PSC in Pakistan seeks a senior Financial Reporting specialist focused on Sundry GLs and Internal Accounts. You will manage monthly variance analysis, ensure compliance with IFRS and internal policies, and drive accurate reporting for group level provisions and ECL.
The role requires CA/ACCA/CPA or equivalent with 6–7 years in financial reporting, preferably in banking, and strong proficiency in Oracle, IFRS, and Excel.
This role focuses on ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and integrity of the Sundry GLs and Internal Accounts from a financial reporting perspective. The incumbent will perform monthly variance analysis, manage escalation and exception processes, critically review Sundry Accounts to minimize financial risks, and oversee key financial and internal control functions.
Responsible for preparation & managing of Group level NPL Classified advances and Provisions and IFRS 9 ECL
Conduct periodic reviews of Sundry GLs and Internal Accounts, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with accounting standards and internal policies.
Review and submit periodic Sundry Account reports, providing detailed insights, variance explanations, and recommendations for improvement.
Perform comprehensive monthly variance analysis for Sundry GLs and Internal Accounts, ensuring timely identification of deviations from expected performance.
Conduct critical review, maintenance and exception reporting of MB Group Sundry Accounts in Oracle system, specifically for UAE branches and coordinate for Subsidiary companies and Overseas branches thereby minimizing any financial risk / loss to the Bank.
Responsible for Financial and internal controls functions such as monthly Reverse balances, abnormal balances, Mismatch balances monitoring, GL Subsidiary differences, business purpose code etc. Followed by performance of month-end closing including post-closing adjustments preparation and submission.
Assist in monitoring of Charge /Write Off Accounts as per bank policies in coordination with respective business units including reporting of Recoveries of Written Off accounts.
Ensure timely reconciliation and clearance of outstanding entries of Nostro Mirror accounts for UAE.
Responsible for managing the Access review functions for various systems and functions under the financial reporting unit.
Ensure SLA/SOP/APPM is defined and updated at regular intervals for the unit in line with Banks policy.
Responsible for exception management as per the Governance Framework.
The role requires adherence to established policies and procedures, including maintaining timeliness and accuracy, to mitigate financial risks, reduce costs, and prevent financial loss.
The job holder collaborates with all MB UAE branches, head office departments, subsidiaries, and overseas branches of Mashreq Bank, as well as all staff members of Mashreq Bank, external and internal auditors, and other units within the bank.
Analyze large volumes of financial data, identify patterns, and isolate root causes of discrepancies or anomalies in Sundry GLs and Internal Accounts.
Assess various courses of action to resolve account discrepancies or control issues, considering both short-term fixes and long-term implications. Anticipate potential risks and develop preemptive measures to mitigate them.
Use root cause analysis techniques to resolve mismatches, abnormal balances, and other financial control issues.
Handle high-pressure situations, such as audit queries or reporting deadlines, with composure and efficiency.
Make informed decisions that balance speed with accuracy to minimize financial risks.
Work with internal teams (e.g., operations, risk, compliance) and external auditors to address data discrepancies and resolve conflicts.
Knowledge of internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR)
