Job summary

iSystems Ltd is seeking an Infrastructure & Platforms Engineer to administer and automate enterprise Linux environments, focusing on RHEL, Satellites, and Ansible automation. You will ensure security, patching, and lifecycle management across production, non-production, and DR setups while supporting virtualization, storage, and backup technologies.

The role requires 5+ years of enterprise Linux experience, strong RHEL skills, and proficiency with Ansible, Satellite, and VMware.

Responsibilities

• Administer and support enterprise RHEL environments across production and DR.
• Perform installation, configuration, patching, hardening, and troubleshooting.
• Manage users, filesystems, LVM, services, SSH, SELinux, and security.
• Manage Satellite lifecycle: content views, environments, keys, repositories, errata.
• Plan and execute patching, remediation, and compliance via Satellite.
• Develop and maintain Ansible playbooks, roles, inventories, templates, and handlers.
• Automate provisioning, configuration, patching, and backups via Ansible.
• Support Ansible Automation Platform/Tower/AWX environments.
• Troubleshoot Linux OS, networking, performance, and infrastructure issues.
• Support VMware vSphere/ESXi; exposure to Hyper-V is a plus.
• Support SAN/NAS storage and backups using Commvault or Veeam.
• Participate in migrations, DR, capacity planning, and upgrades.
• Monitor health, availability, capacity, and performance; root-cause analysis.
• Coordinate with OEM/vendor teams; maintain runbooks and SOPs.
• Participate in incident/problem/change/release management.

Job description

The Infrastructure & Platforms Engineer will be responsible for administering, automating, and supporting enterprise Linux and infrastructure environments, with a primary focus on RHEL, Red Hat Satellite, and Ansible Automation. The role will ensure the availability, security, performance, patching, and lifecycle management of Linux platforms across production, non-production, and DR environments while supporting virtualization, storage, backup, networking, and other enterprise infrastructure technologies.

Responsibilities

• Administer and support enterprise RHEL environments across production, non-production, and DR platforms.
• Perform Linux installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, hardening, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
• Manage Linux users, groups, filesystems, LVM, services, processes, permissions, SSH, SELinux, and system security.
• Manage the RHEL lifecycle using Red Hat Satellite, including host registration, repositories, Content Views, Lifecycle Environments, Activation Keys, errata, and subscription management.
• Plan and execute enterprise Linux patching, remediation, and compliance activities through Satellite.
• Develop and maintain Ansible playbooks, roles, inventories, variables, templates, and handlers for infrastructure automation.
• Automate server provisioning, configuration management, patching, compliance, application prerequisites, and routine operational activities using Ansible.
• Support and troubleshoot Ansible Automation Platform / Ansible Tower/AWX environments and failed automation jobs.
• Troubleshoot complex Linux OS, networking, filesystem, performance, and infrastructure-related issues.
• Support Linux HA/cluster environments and related technologies where applicable.
• Administer and troubleshoot VMware vSphere/ESXi environments, including VM provisioning, migration, snapshots, resource management, and HA.
• Support enterprise SAN/NAS storage, including Fibre Channel, LUNs, multipathing, NFS, and storage provisioning.
• Support enterprise backup and recovery environments using Commvault, Veeam, or equivalent technologies.
• Participate in infrastructure migration, technology refresh, DR, capacity planning, and platform upgrade projects.
• Monitor infrastructure health, availability, capacity, and performance.
• Perform root-cause analysis and implement permanent solutions for recurring infrastructure issues.
• Coordinate with OEM and vendor support teams for Linux, hardware, virtualization, storage, backup, and platform-related issues.
• Maintain infrastructure documentation, SOPs, technical procedures, and operational runbooks.
• Participate in incident, problem, change, and release management processes.
• Provide technical support during critical production activities and planned maintenance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 5+ years of relevant experience in enterprise infrastructure and Linux administration.
• Strong hands-on experience with RHEL 7/8/9 or later.
• Strong expertise in Linux system administration and troubleshooting.
• Hands-on experience with Red Hat Satellite, including Content Views, Lifecycle Environments, Activation Keys, repositories, host registration, errata, and patch management.
• Strong practical experience with Ansible and development of playbooks, roles, inventories, variables, templates, and handlers.
• Experience with Ansible Automation Platform / Ansible Tower/AWX is preferred.
• Good knowledge of LVM, filesystems, systemd, SELinux, SSH, RPM/YUM/DNF, NFS, DNS/NTP, Linux networking, user/access management, and Bash scripting.
• Experience with Linux security hardening, vulnerability remediation, and OS performance monitoring.
• Hands-on experience with VMware vSphere/ESXi; exposure to Hyper-V is an advantage.
• Good understanding of enterprise SAN/NAS, Fibre Channel, LUNs, multipathing, and NFS.
• Experience with Commvault, Veeam, or equivalent backup technologies and understanding of backup, recovery, DR, RPO, and RTO concepts.
• Good understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, NTP, VLANs, routing, firewalls, load balancing, and Linux network configuration.
• Exposure to Red Hat OpenShift/Kubernetes is an advantage.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional infrastructure and application teams.
• Willingness to participate in on-call and after-hours support when required.
• RHCSA/RHCE, Red Hat Ansible Automation, VMware VCP, or ITIL certification is preferred.
